CONTESTANT INTERVIEWS
Alex: As you heard in the introduction, Jennifer Head works for the Sisters of Charity. You're an archivist, right?
Jennifer: I'm an archivist, yes.
Alex: Which means you do what?
Jennifer: I get to play around with old documents. I get to organize them. I get to make sure they're preserved. And they were very kind to me. I got the call about Jeopardy! two weeks before I started. And when I called up my supervisor, Sister Regina, and said, "Can I take some time off?" When she heard what it was for, she let me do it, so I appreciate that.
Alex: Sister Regina, Jeopardy! thanks you.
[Laughter]
Alex: Lloyd Baum, an insurance specialist from Long Beach, New York. I would say that Lloyd is a very romantic fellow, ladies and gentlemen. Tell us about the selection of your wedding ring for your bride.
Lloyd: Well, we were sitting at a table. My father-in-law was a jewelry manufacturer, and he had brought over two envelopes full of samples. So we just spread them out on the table, and we're looking and looking and trying to decide. And my collie came over and stuck his paw on the table and picked one out, and that's the one we used.
[Laughter]
Alex: Of course. Mr. Romance.
Alex: Drew Horwood is our champ. He's from Minnesota and a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. Does that mean you have traveled to England and visited Baker Street and all of the things like that?
Drew: I would love to. I haven't been able to yet. Hopefully, I can. What I did do was write my college senior paper on Sherlock Holmes and British masculinity.
Alex: Oh, really?
Drew: I did. Yes.
Alex: And what's the connection between the two, exactly?
Drew: More than you'd think. I was arguing that Doyle was using Holmes as a way to expand his vision of masculinity to everyone that read it.
Alex: Yeah. Okay, good.
TRIPLE STUMPERS IN THE JEOPARDY! ROUND
SINGERS PORTRAYED ON FILM $1000: In "Nowhere Boy" Aaron Johnson played him as a teenaged lad
THE 18th CENTURY $800: From 1701 to 1714 much of Europe was drawn into the war of this "succession"
OYSTER STEW $400: The Puget Sound area is famous for these small oysters that rarely exceed 1 1/2 inches
(Jennifer: What are button oysters?)
OYSTER STEW $800: As its name indicates, this bird is a natural enemy of the oyster
(Alex: Go for the obvious. It's an [*].)
MARYLAND $1000: To watch the Redskins play, head to this county named for Queen Anne's husband
(What is Prince William County?)
SCORES AT THE END OF THE JEOPARDY! ROUND
Lloyd: $7,800
Drew: $2,400
Jennifer: $1,800
