Geeeze...6 pages before I could get in here...and anything I'd add to has already been nicked (even 38 Studios and the usual deadspin link!)
Didn't see a followup to this tho.
Final was so instant I feared I was missing a trick to it.

I'd like to make fun of the Clemens question, but it was kinda tricky for that round and Sarah would wipe the floor with me.
Of note, Schilling wasn't eligible for the HoF in 2013, so that was my hint (with the games won) to go earlier.

I'll probably post on a Cleveland-centric message board where the members might understand my views better.dhkendall wrote:But then mbclev would have nothing to do! Would you want a long-time poster of this board to be unemployed?KeithAR2002 wrote:Thumbs up to you. I could not agree more. That was a pretty uncalled for post to Sarah, IMO. No need to be rude to contestants when they come on here... they've done better than most of us on here.... The Wheel of Fortune equivalent of jboard prohibits rude or disrespectful comments to contestants that come to the board, precisely because they want contestants to feel like they can be active in the community without getting blasted for any mistakes they made on the show. I really wish the same rule applied here. IMHO, it's fine to give constructive criticism about gameplay, but no excuse to be rude. The mods on the Wheel board even edit posts that are rude or offensive towards a contestant for their gameplay. Can we all please be a little nicer to the contestants that show up here? If Sarah gets a bunch of harsh comments about her wagers, etc, she might just leave and never come back. That goes for any future contestants that may make mistakes. I know my post count isn't high, but I come here everyday and read the discussions. Most are so nice to the contestants that come here, but there are the select few that can be very harsh and rude for any little mistake the contestant made.lieph82 wrote:
The only place where she's going to get razzed for it is on board, and I think she's been sufficiently embarrassed here at this point. We've seen multiple contestants come on the boards and say that they didn't even realize that "wagering strategy" was something to be concerned about until they started lurking here after their taping. Do any of the Jeopardy! preparation books out there have chapters/sections on wagering strategy? Maybe that's something to look into.
Anyway that's just my two cents... even if I'm not a big poster here.

You're talking football (my reply to TPH). Econgator and I were talking basketball. (I'm still waiting for his follow-up to what happens after "It could miss everyone's hands and go out of bounds," and how his result differs from my "it winds up in the other team's hands.")Volante wrote:Didn't see a followup to this:3 things: Interception, very bad. De-lurking for a first time post...
Schilling was my first guess, but I stopped myself and thought it through to Clemens. I was a little thrown by the Rose and McGwire responses.
I briefly studied astrology once, so I'm usually pretty good at signs. Having a Pisces for a mother helped with that one, though. My mother-in-law threw me off with the Castor and Pollux reference--when thinking of a "twin" sign, she pointed to my Libra wife.
FJ: My mind got stuck on Romeo. No, it's not right, but that was all I got.

Where is Lou Gehrig? I have no doubt he would jump many in the list.silverscreentest wrote:Someone went through the archive and came up with an incomplete list of frequently mentioned baseball players.

51 references to Gehrig in the archive(including the "Events happening during Lou Gehrig's consecutive game streak" category last week), 51 times he's mentioned in the clue, the category name, or the response.

I didn't make that list but I should have recognized that Gehrig was missing. The FJ on the day I won was Lou Gehrig. Oops.MarkBarrett wrote:Where is Lou Gehrig? I have no doubt he would jump many in the list.

Don Larsen sprung to my mind; I can think of one time he was a response on the show, but I imagine his status as an "only" has gotten him mentioned a few other times. Searching the Archive for him now... five occurrences. (A few false positives as well, since Wolf LARSEN was a Jack LonDON character.)
