"No. I got all choked up thinking about how everything he does, he does it for her."

Oh good, glad I wasn't alone when I checked on a batch of files I was uploading right after reading this thread and noticing that there were 69 files to go ...

TOC winners won each night. (1986, 1992, 1993, 1988, 1989)
Five males won.
For my pre-taping rankings the winners were: Silver, Gold, Bronze, Bronze, Gold
For position entering the FJ! round the winners were: 2nd, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 2nd
All five winners were 0/1 in the UTOC.
The players were 8/15 on the FJ! clues with no 3/3s and no sole solves.
I realized today that...

before this tournament, Mark, Leszek, Jim, and Tom Cubbage were the only ToC winners from the first decade (besides Jerry Frankel) who hadn't won any games outside their initial appearances and the ToC. (You could include Chuck if you wanted, since his only other victory between the ToC and the BotD was by way of being aggressive from second place while first place bet for a wild card, in the M$M.) Now Jim is the only one alive in that category.
Jerry Frankel: never got the chance
Chuck Forrest: M$M, BotD
Bob Verini: SJ, M$M
Mark Lowenthal: BotD
Tom Cubbage: BotD
Bob Blake: SJ*
Jim Scott: nada
Leszek Pawlowicz: BotD
Tom Nosek: 10AT, BotD
*He's the reason I couldn't simply say "won after their ToC," because he won on SJ before his ToC!
SO, here's a math question. If I hadn't hit the two DD, and hadn't gone in with stuff I negged, what would my score have been going into final jeopardy.
(remember Bob Harris's rule about educated guessing - of course, some of my guesses might have been right...)
