Alex: Maria Wenglinsky, a high-school teacher from New York. What's this about you becoming a calendar girl because of your appearances on our show?
Maria: Well, it wasn't in my bathing suit. It was in my Jeopardy! clothes.
[ laughter ]
Alex: No bathing suit? What were your Jeopardy! clothes?
Maria: Clothes that I wore to play Jeopardy! in.

Alex: Oh. Oh, I thought maybe you had something with a label, a sash. "Ms. Jeopardy!"
Maria: Will I get one if I win?

Alex: Yes, if you win this tournament, you'll get a Jeopardy! sash and a tiara.

Alex: Dan Pawson, from Brooklyn, New York, winning on our program gave you a feeling of security, and so much security that you quit you job and started somewhere else. What did you do?
Dan: Yeah, I started a job as a global health consultant.
Alex: Is it true that you were asked by one of your clients to run a quiz game, and you became Alex Trebek?
Dan: I was. They flew me out to Seattle, put me in a suit, and told me "run this thing."

Upon the unveiling of FJ, I was utterly on the wrong track. I was thinking of the billboard from The Great Gatsby and racking my brain for a five-word arc phrase.

Good lord. Was she like that during her original run, or was it just nerves/rust? I don't remember her. When she took the lead, and there was a strong possibility of seeing/hearing her again in the next round, I was hoping it was the nerves...

No clue for FJ. Been too long since I read it, didn't remember the quote.

I should've picked up on the sore fingers hint, but without any quotation marks or other specific info (number of games, specific subtitle), there was nothing to point to Splinter Cell, and not R6/Ghost Recon etc, so I was happy with the reversal.

THAT'S THE KIND OF STUFF I'M GOING TO MISS. I know the big kahuna's coming next month, but this week was just incredible. Absolutely the best week in Jeopardy history for me. This was a trip down memory lane for the past decade of my life... seeing these players that I know and love return to Jeopardy not only made me remember their runs, but also what I was doing and where I was in my life during their runs. It's like... "hey, there's Michael! I remember I had just turned 18 when he was originally on the show." "Oh, it's Vijay! I had just moved to Raleigh when he started his run!" Okay okay I'm rambling now... sorry. I just enjoyed this week so much. It was everything I had hoped it would be. Thanks to all of you that played this week for making the past five days so much fun for this hardcore Jeopardy fan.

*shrug* The boards felt a bit easier today than earlier in the week, plus that Duke DD (I'm sure you were thrilled with that one) was free money, too easy even for the 800 box. The clue value and the ease of the category had me yelling "7000!!" at the screen, but she added the extra 100 just to spite me. And to tie for the lead. Probably that.
