These are my predictions for the matchups:

Chuck Forrest vs Rachael Schwartz vs Colby Burnett
Tom Nosek vs Pam Mueller vs Russ Schumacher
Mark Lowenthal vs Brad Rutter vs Dan Pawson

Leszek Pawlowicz vs Mark Dawson vs Roger Craig

And my nine semifinalists:

Colby Burnett

Pam Mueller
Russ Schumacher
Brad Rutter
Dan Pawson
Ken Jennings
Leszek Pawlowicz
Roger Craig

Note that I'm picking all 2000s to make the semifinals:

And the semifinals:

Roger Craig vs Russ Schumacher vs Brad Rutter
Colby Burnett vs Pam Mueller vs Dan Pawson
Ken Jennings vs Tom Nosek vs Leszek Pawlowicz

Finals:

Colby Burnett vs Leszek Pawlowicz vs Brad Rutter

Champion :  :geek: Brad Rutter

On Facebook there is a poll to vote for the winner. Each player has a nickname.

Colby Burnett: Teach
Robin Carroll: The Smiling Assassin
Roger Craig: Mainframe
Tom Cubbage: Two-Tourney Tom
Mark Dawson: The 'Stache Killer
Chuck Forrest: The Bouncer
Ken Jennings: Mr. 74
Mark Lowenthal: Stealth
Pam Mueller: Saltator Consultus
Tom Nosek: The Rocket Scientist
Leszek Pawlowicz: Digger
Dan Pawson: The Boston Buzzer
Brad Rutter: Big Bucks
Russ Schumacher: The Storm from Colorado
Rachael Schwartz: The First Lady

Can someone translate Pam's nickname for me? How about Moneyball for Roger instead?

What would have been your nickname if you made the Quarters of the BOTD?

What nicknames should we give to the 30 players in the BOTD who have been eliminated?

Michael Falk: Falkin' A
Tom Nissley: The Proprietor
Vijay: The Bombay Bomber or would Stefan suggest Bach in Business
Tom Kavanaugh: Sweatshop
Celeste DiNucci: Abbondanza

From what I can find, 'saltator' is a songbird. The Latin derivation is 'leaper' or 'dancer'.

Consultus is the perfect passive participle of cōnsulō:

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/consulo

So, ummm ... the Leaping Consultor? Dancing Counsel?

ETA: Or , maybe ... "Featured Dancer"? ;)

I would just like to point out that:

1) we did not have any input with regard to these nicknames.
2) consensus seems to be that mine is, poorly translated, "Dancing Lawyer."
3) in addition to questionable translation, it is indubitably incorrectly gendered.

Michael Rankins suggested that I should be The Immortal instead. I'll take it.

The Smiling Assassin? Really, Sony? Robin Carroll's nickname is now one of Paul Sinha's nicknames on ITV's version of The Chase?

I hate the nicknames. I hate the idea of the nicknames. I hate the idea that these accomplished people are subject to this indignity.

They're Jeopardy champions, not professional wrestlers.

I suppose I've just found out the silver lining to not being a fan favorite.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I shudder to think what they would have come up with for me.

Luckily for me, Alex gave me my nickname himself, and I now have it proudly emblazoned on a dressing gown. (It's not a silky one like wrestlers or boxers wear, but it's pretty close.)

Pics! (No, you don't have to be wearing it, I'm more interested in the dressing gown, I am just tickled by that!)

Dr.J, I would only suggest that if you are not wearing it and you are in the photo. You might want to wear something. :D

You cheeky little monkeys! I'll get you a pic when I get home. It was an amazing b'day gift from my sister and friends. I have the best gal posse around (and we all got that Sally Hansen question from last night without chipping a nail).

I think any semblance of dignity went out the window when they forced you to troll for votes like it was a high school popularity contest.

To be fair, I don't wear this everywhere, but a I do sometimes wear it with my self-bought tiara. (Still can't believe Dan Pawson got a tiara.)
