A quick detour: It's June 17th and which team is in first place in the AL Central?

Since you're asking, I'm guessing KC.MarkBarrett wrote:A quick detour: It's June 17th and which team is in first place in the AL Central?

Legal: Sheriff Robinson, J.D. (Juris Doctor) Martinez, Doug Deeds, and Walt Bond. Also Frank Howard, whose nicknames included “The Capital Punisher.”

Yeah if it was still the Tigers that would not be news. First time in over a decade for the Royals this late in the season.econgator wrote:Since you're asking, I'm guessing KC.MarkBarrett wrote:A quick detour: It's June 17th and which team is in first place in the AL Central?

I'm a Tiger fan, but I'm impressed with the ball KC has been playing lately. Wasn't tonight's win the 9th in a row for the Royals?MarkBarrett wrote:A quick detour: It's June 17th and which team is in first place in the AL Central?

Not that it actually took a long time, but I'm surprised that it took this long for someone to come up with these.Budphrey wrote:David Justice

One more "body parts" player who hasn't been mentioned: Heinie Manush.

One of the great average hitters of all time! Somewhere I have an early-1960s vintage old-timers series card of Heinie Manush.
Found this one online. Says it's a 1960 Fleer card.

Knowing Fleer didn't make cards of active players in 1960, I had to look up how a Fleer card could even exist in 1960.RandyG wrote:Blue Lion wrote:One more "body parts" player who hasn't been mentioned: Heinie Manush.

Apparently they made a "Baseball Greats" series in 1960 and 61, piggybacking off their 1959 rights to Ted Williams and the start of a valiant, but ultimately futile, effort to break the Topps monolith.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

Clayton Kershaw has a no-hitter against the Rockies and only needs six more outs.

A little late to the party.
Part of an animal body: Gil Hodges
Food: Rocky Cherry
Players with bad names for their position: pitchers Homer Bailey and Grant Balfour
Sounds more like a character in a romance novel than an athlete: Taylor Teagarden

Should have been except for the careless error by Hanley Ramirez. Two from the same team in less than a month. The G-Men are feeling the heat. This Is Kirk! wrote:Perfecto!!
