Igor (thought of him first, never considered he might not have been in the book), National Symphony Orchestra (wild guess), Chrysler (50/50 with GM, chose the wrong one).
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

My streak of correct FJ responses is up to 14. And I'm sure I've jinxed myself by saying that. :D For the extra clues this week, I was skunked. The author of Anna Christie, and the name of the ship in Treasure Island, are both things that I knew at one point but couldn't recall this week.

I thought Missouri for Chillicothe. The only thing I know about the town is that it's mentioned in the song "Hooray for Hollywood" along with Paducah KY.

How would you know if they were writing Labrador or Labradoodle? I don't think Lab is specific enough.
We wouldn't know which the contestant was writing, but Lab isn't short for labradoodle.
Have you seen my new dogs?  One's a Newfie, one's a laboratory!
There was a "Bizarro" comic years ago where there was a dog that was "half shepherd, half lab." The back half was a table with chemistry equipment on it; the front half had a headdress and crook you might see in a nativity play.

W: Never thought about a military angle (obvious in hindsight). Also went the "philharmonic" route; picked Philadelphia due to independence connections. Knew it wasn't gonna fly (now) though.

NHO Chillicothe.

Friday was really a defeat from the jaws of victory. I thought the clue involved knowledge of dog breeds, so I tried and failed to apply my very limited knowledge about them.
