I didn't realize until just now that I had such a horrid week. All four of the FJs that I missed were gettable but I blanked on "FCC," even though that I knew that the clue referred to the Janet Jackson mishap, and the other three clues were ones where I just wasn't able to connect the dots from the TOMs.

Wednesday was an educated lucky guess that saved me from being shut out.

The Producers, although I thought of The Lion King and was torn between the two of them.
Brazil, on the misguided notion that they might be asking about it now because of the World Cup.

By that Super Bowl, I was sick of the Patriots.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Didn't even realize I was on my way to a 5/5 week! Sweet! (I'm fairly sure I got Wednesday, though I've forgotten now. I'm gonna give it to myself anyway, since this is so rare. ;))

Since everyone knows my response for 8 of the questions, I figured I might as well reply. For me, Monday's FJ was really obvious, but that is because I'm such a huge Broadway fan. Thursday's and Friday's seem so obvious in hindsight, but at the time I could not come up with them.

In 2004 I had a major crush on Tom Brady. Plus he was from San Francisco, and since the 49ers were terrible at that time, rooting for the Patriots seemed like the next best thing.

I always root for the NFC (unless it's the Redskins. Can't stand the Redskins -- and not because of the name, that doesn't bother me).

No excuse for the right response not even parading through my head on Monday. A little less embarrassed by the other two I missed, but happy that Thurs and Fri both seemed obvious...
Do I have to root for somebody?...How about the nipple? :?
I'm pretty sure I learned about the Hagia Sophia from Jeopardy! and this board...so there's that... :D

Broadway is a major wheelhouse category for me, but I never got to the right response. Thought of Chicago (not based on a movie) and Once (not long-running enough). If I had thought of Phantom of the Opera, I might have gone with it.

Honestly, I didn't remember who was in the 2004 Super Bowl--I doubt I watched it.

Bad guess on Wednesday. Carnegie on Thursday.

Probably should have had Hagia Sophia. Usually would have got Phoenicians.

Virgina Woolf? Seriously? I don't remember ever being fearful over her knowledge of poisons. In fact, it seems to me I scrawled something to that effect on a bathroom mirror in a Greenwich Village bar back in '61.

I am so sorry that I wasn't able to make the leap to detective fiction from the clue and made the desperate attempt to write down the only British female author who I could think of from the time period. Next time I'll just do the Tenpoundhammer thing so that I will avoid looking like an idiot.

Assuming The Lion King does not go much below its current 53% it will be Saudi Arabia that breaks the string of 12 FJ! clues in a roll polling over 50% going back to the previous lowball of Curtiss on June 6th. And then we get two in a row playing tougher thanks to the peaceful factory man.

As someone whose first thought was Virginia Woolf, I justify it with the idea that someone who knew about poisons might be someone who would later use them in a suicide. Virginia Woolf was the only female British author who killed herself that I could name, and so much the better that the year fit.

I had doubts, though (partly because I wasn't sure of her suicide method; turns out she drowned herself), and put the poisons into the context of a novel. They made sense as a means of murder, and Christie's name wasn't far behind.

I really should have gotten Phoenicians.
