Hopefully you caught some of the games, as that should help you with this next question. Identify the country who's team wore one of the following home uniforms during the 2014 FIFA World Cup:

BONUS: I will deduct two points off of your score if you can correctly name the group (A-H) and place (1-4) of your team after the group stage. There is no penalty for a wrong answer, but you must get the main question correct to be eligible for the bonus.

I would have said Colombia for B also, had I picked it. It's pure luck that I didn't.

Ouch. I thought i'd try some TD strategy by going for an obvious choice thinking people would stay away from it. But nooooo. That's TD for you.

Before I get to the final question, I'm going to do the drop bonus first. I think a TD is more fun when there are more responses, but I also recognize that sometimes a category may just be a total blank for some players, so I like to have the drop option, but encourage people not to use it. 15 players, or about 1/3 the field, did not use his/her drop, and thus I've subtracted 5 points from their scores. Incidentally, each of these players scored a 6 or higher on at least one question, so it would have been beneficial to use the drop at some point, the trick is identifying when.

Those players are:
barandall800
Kingrat47
d4z
Cat Hat
CoachP
Bristle
jjwaymee
hscer
Aardvark
Woppy T
whatisbishkek
CheezeWhiz
Christy
Binky
gamawire

Resulting in scores heading into Question 15 of:
47. dott888 115 (-)
46. Peachbox 98 (-)
45. ElendilPickle 94 (-1)
44. barandall800 90 (+1)
43. sillymonkey 90 (-)
42. TheyCallMeMrKid 89 (-)
41. sarah0114 88 (-2)
40. gamawire 84 (+1)
39. CoachP 83 (+1)
38. Woppy T 82 (-)
37. immaf 82 (-1)
36. JoshuaRQI 80 (-1)
35. geolawyerman 78 (-1)
34. A drop of golden sun 77 (-1)

tjconn728 wrote:15. As you may be aware, this quiz is not the only sequel out there. In fact many movies these days also have sequels. Identify the movie franchise by the subtitle of its sequel listed below:

a. Their First Assignment
b. Rise of an Empire
c. Legacy
d. Prince Caspian
e. The Streets
f. Havana Nights
g. The Smell of Fear
h. Book of Secrets
i. Freddy's Revenge
j. The Two Towers
k. The Winter Soldier
l. Judgment Day
Almost another "perfect" question, as all answers were used, there were no drops, and there was just one wrong answer that was so close to being right that for a minute I thought I had forgotten a second movie with the same subtitle. A big sheep and near sheep here, one surprising, the other not so much. It seems as if America collectively wants to forget that Dirty Dancing had a sequel, but looks like we all remember, we just choose to ignore it. And once again, it's probably the three most obvious answers that are singletons.

Interesting bit of trivia I learned about Havana Nights from "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" and which Wikipedia (as always) summarizes better than I can:
Havana Nights is based on an original screenplay by playwright and NPR host Peter Sagal, based on the real life experience of producer JoAnn Jansen, who lived in Cuba as a 15 year old in 1958-59. Sagal wrote the screenplay, which he titled Cuba Mine, about a young American woman who witnessed the Cuban revolution and had a romance with a young Cuban revolutionary. The screenplay was to be a serious political romance story, documenting, among other stories, how the Cuban revolution transformed from idealism to terror. It was commissioned in 1992 by Lawrence Bender, who was rising to fame with his production of Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. The screenplay was bought by a film studio, which requested several rewrites before deciding not to produce the film. A decade later, Bender decided to make a Dirty Dancing sequel, and the film was very loosely adapted from Sagal's script. Not a single line from Sagal's original screenplay appears in the final film and Sagal says that the only remnants of the political theme that existed in his script is a scene wherein some people are executed.

Thanks for doing this. I was pleased to work my way up almost to the median, after a bad start that included a wrong answer on the very first question.
