Doesn't affect any scoring, just wondering if there's something I'm missing.
I was wondering this as well. I don't think Walt is correct (not that it affects the scoring).
You're right to question these, but the official source for this question (listed in the "explanations" section) is the Wikipedia page "List of Lost characters", and says that both Bernard and Walt appeared in all seasons. The page does say that in season 1 Bernard appeared in "voice or footage" only - but doesn't give details. Bearing in mind how often major characters were deliberately slipped into the background, I couldn't say for sure that he didn't appear in footage somewhere, so I listed him. For Walt, the only hitch was that in season 6 he was shown only in the epilogue. Because the question just said they had to appear in an "episode" without specifying a regular one, I would have credited this answer. But, as you both mention, no one said either, so it doesn't affect scoring.
Ah, that makes sense, I forgot you listed wiki as source for that question when in general you said lostpedia would be the definitive source. LUmping "voice and footage" together leaves a bit of a hole when you were asking about onscreen appearances. I found this on lostpedia on the subject of Bernard's voice being heard in Season 1: "The voice heard on the radio transmission that Boone picks up, which is revealed in Season 2 to have been Bernard, is clearly not that of actor Sam Anderson. This is most likely because the part had not yet been cast."

Also, I had forgotten that Walt and Michael were not seen on the plane or anywhere in the flash sideways in Season 6. I guess they didn't really have much choice, since Walt's portrayer had aged 5 years so it would have been tough to pass him off as playing the same age as he was during the original flight.

A massive sheep for the Oceanic Airlines jet made the "Push the Button" option a bargain here - but also left plenty of other good answers open.

Correct answers not given:
The Elizabeth (Desmond's sailboat)
The Bésixdouze (French research team's vessel)
The Galaga (submarine)
Naomi's helicopter
Lapidus' helicopter

As far as I know, it's unclear whether the US army personnel arrived by air or sea, so that wasn't a possible answer. Also, no one tried to make the case that parachutes were aircraft!

Interesting, I had totally forgotten about the helicopter crashing after Naomi parachuted in. I was thinking that the helicopter she came from would have been the same one that Frank Lapidus later brought back, but lostpedia just refreshed my memory. I guess they had 2 choppers and 2 pilots on the freighter in order to search for the island once they got close, as it says "The helicopter, after flying dangerously through a thunderhead, was put down on one of the two landing pads on the freighter."

I probably would've picked Ajira 316 if I could've retrieved the name and flight number from the memory banks, so that saved me a couple of points. On the other hand, until this TD I didn't know that the Others' submarine even had a name

Here was another question where, even if you'd never seen a single episode, you could avoid pushing the button if you wanted to. Looking ahead to question 6, you'd have seen that one of the pseudonyms used on the show was Jeremy Bentham, and you could have given that answer (and ruined MarkBarrett's singleton!) You could also have taken a gamble by guessing Kevin or Keith Johnson, since it's virtually guaranteed there are scientists, philosophers, and theologians named Johnson.

There were many good answers to choose from, and seven of you managed singletons!

There are also characters whose surnames are so common they're bound to be right, too (e.g., Smith, Chang, Ford, Lloyd).

Magna wrote:Question 6. And speaking of names, identify someone who used any one of these pseudonyms or false identities. Give the letter first, then your answer. Not all pseudonyms for each character are listed.

    B. Henry Gale, Dean Moriarty
    C. LaFleur
    D. Kate Ryan, Katharine Dodd, Joan Hart
    E. Kevin Johnson
    F. Keith Johnson
    G. Dahlia Choi
    H. John Locke, Christian Shepherd
    I. Jeremy Bentham
    J. Tom Sawyer, Adam Seward
    K. Oduduwa Ulu
Most of these were names assumed by the characters themselves to hide their identities, and there quite a few I didn't list. Kate, in particular, used quite a lot. The Man in Black impersonated the two people listed (and probably several others). Mr. Eko's was used on his fake passport, and Sun's friend arranged for her to travel under the name Dahlia Choi when she was preparing to leave Jin.

Magna wrote:Question 7. The island’s powers miraculously kept most people healthy – but didn’t save them from bizarre deaths. Name character who died (on or off the island) in any of the following ways. (Some letters have more than one character as an answer. Pay attention to any pronouns in the clue.)
  • A. Fell down a hole, then detonated an atomic warhead by pounding on it with a rock
    B. Accidentally blew himself up with very old, unstable dynamite
    C. Was stabbed, then fell into a fire where he burned up almost immediately, then apparently came back to life until he burned his own ashes in a campfire
    D. Deliberately took a bomb blast to save his friends
    E. Hit by a meteor
    F. Was shot with a speargun, then swam underwater and blew himself up with a hand grenade
    G. After surviving the initial plane crash, died when a second plane he was in fell off a cliff
    H. Paralyzed by a spider bite, then mistakenly buried alive
    I. Rescued from hanging, only to be strangled by his rescuer a few moments later
    J. Sucked into a jet engine
    K. Immediately after complaining about having no fire, he was shot in the chest by a flaming arrow
    L. Was picked up, thrown around, and smashed by the smoke monster
As mentioned, a few of these (D, H, and L) had multiple answers, each of which counted as a different answer. Several of you sheeped around a couple of the more obscure ones. One incorrect answer (right incident, wrong guy).

Incorrect answer:

I think they intentionally made him an annoying character who was barely on screen, so the audience wouldn't feel bad about laughing when he died. ;)

If you were stuck on this one and didn't want to push the button, one of the opposite-sex combination of Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice Jack and Kate and Sawyer and Juliet was your best bet. Sawyer and Juliet share the title for most likely to kiss or be kissed. There were a few other insular couples who weren't part of the love polyhedron, though.
