2014 Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Round 1, Day 2

Post by DadofTwins »

We're off to a good start. So far we have 86 players, of whom 13 are rookies. Welcome all.

Here is the link to the standings page:

Over in Instant Replay, there are links to clue-by-clue breakdowns of right and wrong responses. Stat people, ahoy.

Again, and always, thanks to rjaguar3 for his hard work putting that together.

On to Day 2.

THE CAST OF THE RETURN OF THE JEDI RADIO PLAYS

I cannot begin to tell you how happy I was to learn that this existed.

2: Yoda – Lord Farquaad in the Shrek movies, he won three Emmys for playing Dick Solomon on "Third Rock form the Sun."

4: Jabba the Hutt – An Emmy winner for playing Lou Grant, in 2009 he voiced the character of Carl in "Up."

6: Boba Fett – This environmental activist was nominated for Emmys six consecutive years for playing Dr. Victor Erlich on "St. Elsewhere."

8: Credited only with providing “additional voices” on "Return of the Jedi," she would later earn an Oscar nomination for adapting her one-woman show “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.”

10: Darth Vader – Best known for playing Tom Robinson in "To Kill a Mockingbird," he also played Captain Sisko's father on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."

ART HISTORY

3: The “New Objectivity” of Otto Dix and George Grosz were part of the early 20th century expressionist movement associated primarily with this country.

6: This hyphenated French term was first used in the 19th Century to describe the use of art to instigate social reforms.

9: This “Dutch style” is characterized by its use of black, white, and primary colors.

12: A revival of Greek and Roman painting styles began to emerge in response to rococo, but was not given this 13-letter name until the mid-19th century.

15: This “brotherhood” was founded in London in 1848 out of disaffection with Joshua Reynolds, founder of the Royal Academy of Art.
