Mon: I never considered Marple, Poirot, or anything other than murder.
Tue: I thought of Churchill and Stalin but answered with Hitler.
Wed: Detroit was an instant get; lived near there for several years.
Thu: I was unfamiliar with both David Brat and David Blatt.
Fri: I never watched "How I Met Your Mother" but heard publicity about the last episode.
I got 160 clues right and 21 clues wrong for the week.

Wednesday HAS to be my most embarrassing miss ever.

Never heard of Blatt or Brat. Already said how I got Dakar.

I have seen a handful of episodes of HIMYM.

"I have been through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel": too many times, including some I can't remember when I was too young. 8-)
Easier than getting through the bridge, especially when it's backed up due to the truck traffic going between the auto plants on each side.
Also there's a shuttle bus going thru the tunnel between D-W: the terminal for the Detroit side is at the foot of the Renaissance Center.
And finally you're encouraged to "Listen to the Big 8" (CKLW Radio) while inside the tunnel.

Never heard of Blatt or Brat

The finale of HIMYM was highly promoted, so this was pretty simple. I can't check the never watched box, but I only watched maybe five episodes.

I knew CHE, but clammed because I thought it was too obvious for a bottom row clue. I knew the dauphin, but not Dakar.

Four instagets and one never-get. I have heard of both Brat and Blatt, but the names didn't stick enough to come up with Thursday's answer, no matter how long you gave me.

Have never been to Detroit and have seen a couple of episodes of the sitcom.

Thu - Heard of Brat, would have gotten him two months ago. Never heard of Blatt in a way that'd get me to remember the name.
Fri - Never seen an episode of HIMYM, not even snippets (unless you count bits during the Emmy's/GGs and meme .gifs)

No excuse on Che; knew he was the Motorcycle Diaries guy, but I choked on the 'Argentinian' bit. Stupid clam on my part.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.
Latest movies (1-10): Everything Everywhere All at Once (10), Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken (6), Black Sunday /1960/ (6), Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (7)

Monday: What is murder? Instaget, pretty much. Thought of this FJ! and it followed from there.
Tuesday: Who is Adolf Hitler? I thought Hitler came to power later, and Roosevelt died sooner, but after ruling out other key figures, I decided if it wasn't Hitler, I didn't know it.
Wednesday: What is Seattle? After talking myself out of Detroit because I couldn't connect it with the corporation part. I'm guessing the corporation was either GM or Ford? (My affiliate had trouble Wednesday; I got parts of Julia Collins' first game in place of the first segment and FJ!)
Thursday: No answer. No clue on either one.
Friday: What is How I Met Your Mother? I thought HIMYM ran only eight seasons, but otherwise that was an instaget.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Weird week for me. I had poison instead of murder, but I guessed How I Met Your Mother because it was just about the only recent sitcom title I could recall.

I heard of Brat at the time of his primary victory and might have still remembered his name at the time when Thursday's episode was taped; but this week I had nothing. And I NHO Blatt.

I think the FJ on Thursday may be the hardest I've ever seen. Two people that on thier own are very difficult to pull. The polls are showing that getting only one would give about a 15% success rate. Getting both, that's brutal.

First 5/5 week of the season. The last time I went to Detroit was about 20 years ago. I think both times we used the bridge but I'm not absolutely certain. Ironically, I just bought a plane ticket & I'm flying through there in less than a month.

Tues: Churchill, dumb guess in retrospect because I knew he returned to the PM post later (1951)
Thurs: WAGged Johnson and Johnston.

Are we meant to check the Blatt/Brat boxes if we missed both of them, or just one?

That's what's called a coincidence, Alanis.

3/5

Don't know why I didn't get Hitler, but went with Churchill. Again, though, that was one of those questions I feel like I would have got if I were on the show, because I would have studied things like that. Although the fact it was a TS indicates maybe I'm vain.

Only problem clue this week the one most everybody else had a problem on.
Watched HIMYM once or twice - regretted it. Still easy.
