Seaborgium and Bamaman - I thought I had clicked the box that allowed revotes, but somehow missed it. I have now edited in that option, so any re-voting as necessary for errant clicks should now work.

Right sport, wrong player: Ted Williams, thinking the clue was referring to his war service.

Not a bad guess. I'm not sure they would've gone with "He Took a Chance" as the tag line, though. That makes it sound like he didn't have to go to war but made the risky decision to serve. True as that may be, it wouldn't sit well with draftees and with draftees' widows and orphans for whom there wasn't a lot of choice. It sounds like praising Ted because he did what they all did when, unlike most people, he could have made a phone call and avoided the danger. Oh, bravo, Mr Big Important Person. (Slow clap.)

I think the zeitgeist might've gone with the tag line "He Did His Duty". Or maybe, if this metaphor was sufficiently universal at the time, "He Stepped Up to the Plate". Couple that with a shot of The Kid in military uniform and you're golden. The media are suckers for that kind of juxtaposition.

I'm going to play Sports Jeopardy! one of these days, I swear. I went to Crackle and was pleasantly surprised at seeing captions for it just by watching Dan Patrick's intro of Episode 1 (almost nothing on the web is captioned, it seems) so I'm definitely looking forward to it.

(I would have clammed on Bernadette, but it came to mind quickly in real time.)
Got Heinz but didn't know they had that many products.
Didn't notice the missing 'stache.
Haven't watched any Sports Jeopardy but plan to. The way the semester is going, it will probably be over Thanksgiving break.

Breakdown of board scores

After 130 respondents:

 10 got all 5 FJ!s
;) 22 got 4 FJ!s
:) 48 got 3 FJ!s
:( 38 got 2 FJ!s
 10 got 1 FJ!
 2 got 0 FJ!s

Average: 2.83 FJ!s correct.

My responses went:   :( :( /

Wed: I found this clue baffling.
Fri.: I was sailing the South Pacific.

As for the Heinz question:

Code: Select all

Right Wrong
Knew 5700+	30	10
Did not know	54	36

No Sports J! here.

Result of 10 for those who knew about the 5700+ products but did not get FJ! correct is the number who checked neither box.

No Sports J! here.
