OK, I'm usually pretty easy going about Jeopardy (to quote Woody Allen (?) "Jeopardy is a lot like sex, when it's good it's really good. When it's bad it's still pretty good."), but even I have been shaking my head today. Maybe it's just me, but yesterday and today I've been getting a distinct Season1 / Season 2 vibe from the show, unsure contestants, not knowing how to wager (I forgive the early contestants since they didn't have previous shows to learn from) and baffling clues (although I think the biggest fault of the clue writers in the first seasons were that it was too easy). But today I was just shaking my head. I really hope this doesn't continue. I'll still watch (as I've said before, I even watch and enjoy Kids Week because Jeopardy! is still Jeopardy!), but the enjoyment factor goes down.

"Northwesterly" is actually correct. Too bad they didn't say that. First they present the clue giving Finland as a "northeasterly neighbor of the USSR" (there are no countries that directly border the USSR on the northeast) - I'm sure they were thinking the other way around, but that's what was written. Made me grumble as that was, I agree, possibly the most egregious error I can recall them letting slip. Then, Alex comes back on before Final. OK, change in scores. "Blah, blah, Finland ... " ooo, they noticed! Yay! "... it actually only borders the *European* part of the USSR on the northeast ... " ... What? Your explanation made it *more* wrong! That's it, when I get The Call and I go to Culver City, I'm sending in my resume to be a clue writer.
