I agree. floridagator will have no problem with Emma or Tyler tomorrow, but have something to say about Neha, I guess?Bamaman wrote:I thought Zane Ice was a pretty bad ass name.
nightreign: I'm with you that Beautiful Creatures was not likely to be hit this week. Maze Runner in the DD slot was not very kind either even though that movie was more recent.
Zane killed it in the FJ! round with the proper Play-Doh spelling and then calculating 29603 to cover Courtney's potential 29602 by the buck.
Did anyone miss this FJ! clue? What else to guess? Silly Putty?
Re: Thursday, December 4, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
I needed the NOT TO EAT or else I would have missed it.

Yeah, that seems to be the only other possible option.MarkBarrett wrote:What else to guess? Silly Putty?

A plain vanilla first name?floridagator wrote:My Two Cents is that if I had a weird last name like Ice, I would want to give my son as conventional a two-syllable name as possible.

Did Zane remind anyone else of a young Ken Jennings?
Re: Thursday, December 4, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
Wow, that Let It Go song sucks. I haven't been watching the show too closely this week but the FJs seem easy no matter what one's age.
Re: Thursday, December 4, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
Here's a case, unlike earlier in the week, when having a historical memory might have been a disadvantage. I couldn't quite believe that Play-Doh has only been around for 50 years (actually it's closer to 60, so it does outdate me), and that it was so new when I was a kid and it was in every classroom. As another boardie said, if it wasn't for the "not to eat" part I might not have come up with it.

I considered Legos, but Play-Doh came to mind first and I stuck with it.MarkBarrett wrote:Did anyone miss this FJ! clue? What else to guess? Silly Putty?
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

I actually thought of Lego first but switched to Play-Doh in plenty of time.Plactus wrote:I considered Legos, but Play-Doh came to mind first and I stuck with it.MarkBarrett wrote:Did anyone miss this FJ! clue? What else to guess? Silly Putty?
I was disappointed they didn't get through the Oboe Lessons category. I'm guessing that the first two responses would have been something like "What is the woodwind family?" and "What is a duck?/What is Peter and the Wolf?".
I watch most TV with the captions on, and the captioner described the English horn by "brass instrument playing" or something to that effect. Apparently, whoever did the captioning didn't know their brass from their oboe.

I believe you, and the 3 contestants, are the only four people on Earth who fit that description. There was so much media coverage of Jeter this year, even in the non-sports world, that anyone who's never heard of him is either Amish, or has been living on an island with a volleyball for the last 20 years.TenPoundHammer wrote:Agree, Zane Ice was a pretty badass name.
I have NHO ... what sport Jeter played.

I've heard of him; I just didn't know anything about him more than "athlete".Onairb wrote:I believe you, and the 3 contestants, are the only four people on Earth who fit that description. I lol'd. Well played.Linear Gnome wrote:Apparently, whoever did the captioning didn't know their brass from their oboe.

Or you could, you know, hang out here, it's referred to a fair bit here. (In all honesty, though, I remember being excited when I first saw/heard about them (although, being somewhat over six feet in height it's doubtful I'll ever use one) so since you are, I assume, a fellow behind the scenes groupie, I can understand your excitement, but am a bit surprised this was the first time you learned of them.)floridagator wrote:We got a rare peek behind their podiums and ought now have a better understanding why the three contestants are usually so equal in height.

I was far more interested in the game board being set back up behind Alex in that shot. As mundane as I'm sure it is to most people, I found it intriguing that all the dollar values come back up and then the ones that were already played disappear.floridagator wrote:What a mix of contestants. The middle contestant seems to have left puberty behind a while ago, while the right contestant is barely HALF the height of Big Bird! (Zane is nearly as short.)

"Not to eat" made me react initially with Mr. Potato Head. Then after about five seconds I settled in on Play-Doh.MarkBarrett wrote:What else to guess? Silly Putty?

My first thought was Mr. Potato Head but then my wife blurted out Play Dough. Not sure if I would gav gotten that on my own. Unhappy discussion followed on Jeopardy watching etiquette.

He was giving a reason why there's no second week with semifinals and finals, like in most other special sessions throughout the year.cosmos wrote:Here's what I got:sandwich wrote:What all did Alex say at the beginning of the show? I'm sure you've noticed that one of the main differences between our Kids Week shows and our regular fare, aside from the age factor of course, is the element of emotion. As talented as they are, these very bright young people haven't yet had too many experiences in life where they were not the winners and that can be pretty tough on some of them. Nevertheless, we hope that their visit to Jeopardy winds up being viewed by them as a positive one.
