I'm 47 too, but this is the first time in a while I've been at the older end of the spectrum in an activity. Many CASA volunteers are retired, so older than me. I guess I'm technically retired too... I should go back to school (again) and then I can really feel old! I felt like it was a mixed blessing in the game, slower on the signaling device, but more time to have read and absorbed information.Bamaman wrote:
My wife was once an actual paid employee of CASA so that gave me another reason to root for you other than you just being an older player. (I'm 47 so I need all the hope I can get).

Yes, that became pretty clear when we came home Friday to a voicemail on our unlisted home phone from someone calling himself a "visionary" who thought I'd "want to be aware of him." Yeah, not so much.Winchell Factor wrote: I just learned that about you recently, because, in case you haven't noticed, a whole lot more people know stuff about you than did a week ago.
I was pleased that I had started grad school before I played, so that I could be introduced (rather wordily) as "a stay-at-home dad and graduate student." This is due, in large part, to the fact that my "kids" are now way too old to need me to be at home.
And my kids are teenagers now, so my stay-at-home duties tend to be more pressing for the cats and dogs. Another reason to have an alternate introduction!

Going back to school will definitely make you feel old! But, for me at least, not that much older than being on Jeopardy! I remember getting on the shuttle from the hotel, looking at the other contestants and thinking, "I hope the categories are going to be 'Watergate,' 'Disco Music,' 'Starsky & Hutch'...."

Hey all,
This is my first post. Best of luck to everyone!
I signed up for the Tuesday 4/14-Boston deal. I took the test two years ago, was summoned to the Sheraton in NYC, played the live game, was told (as were we all) that we were "in the pool"--and never got called. So I'll try again.
Maybe I should be ranked as "Toweling Off Since 2013."

Hi there! Is there a rank of "I lost to Kerry?" <waves to Kerry, Niels, and David>
I'm sorry I showed up too late to discuss my episode in a timely fashion. (Show 7040, which will live in infamy for several reasons.)

Thanks! I like this place.
My Alex photo turned out too horrible to display in public, but really, it's me.

Please add your thoughts on show 7040 in the game thread. We're always interested in what the players have to say.

I remember an entomology grad student playing on (or coaching) a team named Def Lepidoptera.BigDaddyMatty wrote:You were two steps behind.dhkendall wrote:I'm just kicking myself that, as a huge fan of Joe Elliott's band, I never thought of calling myself Def Leppardy

For mine I think this works:
5 time passer, 0 time swimmer
Consolation prize: currently swimming in Millionaire's pool
5 time passer, 0 time swimmer

Total game show career losings = $171,522

Huh, I was also at the Sheraton Times Square in 2013. What day was your audition? Might've run into you there, I did run into someone I auditioned with when I was taping in LA after all (she wound up being pushed to the next day).Leopardy! wrote:Hey all,

Is there a designation for people whose time has expired in the pool? Toweling off? Taking a shower? Relaxing in the hot tub?
