Episode title: "Going For Goal"

A 30-second miss for me on the FJ! clue as I went against my usual division search instincts and tried East first. Rounding up NY teams was a strikeout as was Florida. Instead of going straight west I then detoured to Texas and of course found three teams. Not enough although I took a moment to consider if it was possible there was a 4-team division.

Finally I got to the Pacific and had Warriors, Kings, LAL and LAC. Unfortunately, I went north for neighboring state and worked on writing Portland Trail Blazers. As I was finishing it hit me I was picturing old school division lineups (I'm not good on keeping up with NBA and NHL movements) and that Portland (as of 2004) had moved out.

I realized Suns was the answer, but I did not even have enough time to do a cross out and write Suns. It was bad on my part to waste home court advantage for such a clue, but I always think of OR and NV for bordering CA before AZ picturing such things from a No. CA perspective. Grrr! At least it was not regular J! or it really would have burned me.

It would never have been a miss on stage as current division lineups would have been a mandatory prep session.

At least I picked up the fogey stumpers of knowing it was Rosey Grier pictured at that the Padres were the team for Gaylord Perry's NL Cy Young.

Jessica had freestyle (2000 pts.) for Natalie Coughlin's swim stroke to cost her playing in the FJ! round. Brandon tried breaststroke and Roy declined the 50/50 (he would have missed with butterfly he indicated) as he wisely made sure he was going to keep his runaway in place at the point of the clue. Jessica did get to do the post game chat segment.

I was hoping we'd see Roy sipping on a beer in the post game chat.

Big win for him, but he'll need at least one for to make any type of TOC if they have one. Vinny never commented on the issue here so either he does not know or he does know and can't say.

I started out west for FJ and got it right. I was worried at the end it was Portland but it was too late to change.

The puzzle looks like a basketball score, but no guess here.

My guess of Nadia Comaneci didn't pan out...(happened in 1976)

The last two weeks, I haven't even SEEN the scorebard during the show. Last week, I saw the part of the bottom line as they showed the FJ! category screen, but that's it. This week, I never saw it at all.

I got the fogey stumper about the Rams player, and I'm not even thirty yet. It might not have been a triple stumper if the clue mentioned his love of needlepoint or his job as a bodyguard.
Instaget FJ, and I'm very glad I didn't think of the Blazers. I knew California had enough teams to (nearly) fill a division, so I went right to Arizona. "Thunder" or "Pelicans" would've been good guesses if you didn't realize Texas had "only" three NBA teams.
Hoping for a third lap

That Rams player was Rosey Grier, who played college football at Penn State under Rip Engle during the time Joe Paterno was an assistant. I know that because I'm a Penn Stater like him and I better know about Rosey Grier, who was on the cover of a summer 2011 edition of Penn Stater Magazine.

I just can't bring myself to root for a contestant doing the Kaepernick. :x

FJ was a tossup between Suns/Blazers. Glad I picked the right one.

3/16: 15,000 (FJ: )

Coryat: $21,500
34 R/2 W
DD: 2/3
FJ: Instaget
LT: Earnest Byner

J! round seemed particularly easy, but DJ! was brutal. I solved the Rocky TOM on the Steelers DD, but I had never heard of Rocky Bleier. I also never knew that Gaylord Perry played for the Padres, despite the fact that I have an autographed baseball of his in my home office. As a lifelong Lakers fan, knowing that the Pacific Division is California plus the Suns is like knowing my own name.
Sprinkles are for winners.
