Here's Wolf Blitzer on the subject, preserving his reputation among Jeopardy! fans.

Maybe you shouldn't have started this thread in the first place. Show some respect instead of joking Jeopardy tie-ins.opusthepenguin wrote:Hmm. Maybe I should've gone with this one.

Meant no disrespect. Sorry if it came out that way. I thought the first two videos were a good way of showing respect.Golf wrote:Maybe you shouldn't have started this thread in the first place. Prince is almost certain to come up on the next online qualifying test, and there's plenty of material for clue writers to work with. He won seven Grammy Awards; won an Academy Award (Best Original Song for "Purple Rain"); was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the first year of his eligibility; formed two bands, Prince and the Revolution and Prince and the New Power Generation; and four of his albums are on Rolling Stone's list of the best 500 of all time.
I'm sure the rest of this community will add much more to the list; pop music is my weakest category.

I was in grad school in Minneapolis from 1981 to 1986, so I had a sort of front row seat watching him go from local hero to worldwide phenomenon. There was also a great punk scene there at the time, so I really appreciated yesterday's Hüsker Dü clüe.
I think what's easy to miss about all the things that Prince did is that he was one helluva badass guitarist. And though this (obviously) isn't one of his songs, the performance and the context in which it occurred is testament to his badassery. His solo begins about 3:30 into this video if you don't want to watch the whole thing, though the whole thing is great.
RIP.

Some friends of mine had tickets for his concert in Atlanta last week but couldn't go because one of them got sick so they sold the tickets.

Me too. Prince's death is certainly tragic, but I think I'd be just as bummed if I heard Bob Mould had passed.drdoug41 wrote:I was in grad school in Minneapolis from 1981 to 1986, so I had a sort of front row seat watching him go from local hero to worldwide phenomenon.
