Coryats
Rick: 7750
Nadeem: 13500
Keenan: 18500

Combined: 39,750

Epipsode title: "Devious Minds"

I thought the FJ! clue was too easy as written. Would anyone on Sports J! actually miss this? Why not take "San Diego" out of the wording? I need to get some of the non-sports fans to visit this thread and see how they handle the clue.

The players did well although the Farm = Stanford being a TS surprised Dan as much as me. The Dolphins beating the Chiefs in the classic 1971 playoff game was one I thought still remained memorable yet was 0/3 in the game. That's okay, easy trash for those old enough to even be able to name kickers Yepremian and Stenerud. Dan Patrick showed off with Ed Podolak who racked up 350 total yards.

When watching the show I have to learn to accept things I remember when they happened are not things the contestants may have seen when the events first occurred. People's exhibit 1 - the DD miss by Keenan having 1976 instead of 1972 for the USA men's basketball team not accepting their silver medals.

Season 2 leaderboard: (There has been no indication about any kind of season-ending finals or tournament)
Spoiler
Vinny Varadarajan - 15 wins & $75,000

Roy Hollis - 5 wins & 25,000 (2499 + 24000 + 14750 + 23001+41001)
Rick Karl - 3 wins & $15,000 (4501+14501+28499)
Jay Sullivan - 2 wins & $10,000 (25001+18501)
Ron Freshour - 2 wins & $10,000 (7750+17750)
Ray Nhan - 2 wins & $10,000 (11250+20500)
Keenan Bigg - 1 win & $5,000* (26500)
Bryan Barton - 1 win & $5,000 (21500)

So I just got an e-mail to audition in Boston. I had forgotten all about even taking the test, because it was almost a year ago at this point!

If there's one mascot where sports fans know the name of the person inside the suit, it's the San Diego Chicken. Ted Giannoulas has done a host of interviews over the decades as himself, and has never had an issue with the public knowing that he's the SDC.

I would have taken "San Diego" out of the clue, but I'm not a member of the writing staff :)

I am guessing Mark enjoyed the Anderson clue as much as Nadeem enjoyed saying the Rams' owner.

I barely saw it, but the scoreboard was as easy as FJ. I actually met the Chicken once at a college baseball game in Knoxville. I could have even told you the name of the radio station that gave him his start.

I knew the Farm, but it would probably be easier for a west coaster than these three.

Loved Rick's story.

What I said when I saw the Anderson clue would get me immediately tossed from a baseball game if I said it to an umpire.

There were a lot of overvalued clues in this episode. I got five of the bottom-row clues in Single Jeopardy and four in Double. "San Diego" really gave FJ away, since that city currently has only two teams and they weren't referring to Boltman.
I clammed on "The Farm" clue. Does that refer to a tree farm? Trash: "Dolphins."

As probably the least likely person on this forum to get a sports clue, I actually did manage to puzzle this one out. "San Diego chicken" rang just enough of a bell in my head for it to register. Took me a while but I did manage.

San Diego + dressing as something + sports = a relatively easy FJ for me, who is a much better regular Jeopardy! player than a Sports Jeopardy! player.

Another person here who's much better at regular J! than sports J!, and that FJ was an instaget (reading it from this game thread)

Thank you for all the responses. It seems clear that the clue was too easy for this version of J! as written. Of course that can happen in regular J! as well with difficulty all over the map.

Mark, I'm good enough to run a general sports category on regular J! but I'm not going to ever try out for Sports J & I got that answer instantly because I remembered his real name.

No clue. I was trying to find a response that tied in to both sports and radio, and couldn't. I thought about making a silly lateral move with KGB and giving Leonid Brezhnev as an answer, but I don't think the clue would have ended with "this" if the response had been a person.

Instaget for this non sports fan... followed by some hesitation. Chicken. Is that all they want? Or should I say San Diego Chicken? What if that's TOO specific? I.e. maybe the guy was allowed to dress as A chicken, provided he was distinguishable from THE San Diego Chicken. So I went with just plain chicken.

Looking it up, it appears I made the right choice and Rick Karl may have been technically incorrect with his too specific response. I'm glad they didn't penalize him since such a "miss" would be entirely the fault of the clue writers.

For me, taking "San Diego" out of the clue would have changed nothing. I used to live in San Diego County and remember radio station KGB.

"Oh heck. A padre? That would be in such bad taste though! You got nuthin kid. Scribble that down and hang your head."

I'm from Southern California and have family in San Diego. I don't follow sports, and I haven't lived on the west coast since '97.

Non-sports fan. Never heard of San Diego Chicken. I lived in LA for 4 years, but I'm mostly a midwesterner.

Baseball fan. Got it easily. It helps that I know KGB is a San Diego radio station.

42 of 48 right in this game (although I could have gotten 2-3 more right, including the Gus Malzahn/Auburn clue, which we get pounded into our heads everyday on local sports talk radio/TV down here).
No problem with FJ, and "The Chicken" has his own baseball card in the 1982 Donruss (puzzle pieces instead of bubble gum) set. 8-)

Never heard of the chicken. I know the AL well enough, but not the NL, apparently.
