Re: Who's Special #4 (Questions now posted!!!)
This was a category that scared me. I knew nothing about them and would have clammed the category if I'd faced them as a contestant. It seemed to be a "you know it or you don't" category, as there were very few wrong answers given. One person described the questions as "laughably easy" and I suppose they were if you knew much about Gilbert and Sullivan.

The Final Standings
First, I'd like to thank everyone who played this game. I learned some things during this game abd I hope everyone else did too. I apologize for the delays in running the game, it was partially due to work but mainly due to laziness and procrastination,
First, the bottom three. These players all signed up to play, including two who were specialists, but for whatever reason, did not submit an entry.
32. barandall8000 -15
33. cheezguyty -15

Re: Who's Special #4 (Questions now posted!!!)
Places 4-8
An interesting situation here as all these players finished with the same score. As explained in the rules, ties are broken by the earliest entry, the full list in order of entry is at the beginning of the thread.
4. gamawire 13+1+10+10+3+8=45
5. MarkBarrett 8+9+10+8+4+6=45
6. Mam418 4+15+10+8+0+8=45
7. xxaaaxx 13+10+8+4+4+6=45
8. bomtr 3+8+10+15+5+4=45
MarkBarrett is usually the first to enter. The one time he isn't it costs him a spot as an alternate medalist.

That person wasn't me. But I was honestly expecting more obscure questions, like "Which two leading characters, both contralto parts, have no spoken lines?" Or "What is Captain Corcoran's fist name?" Although I see if you had asked that, there would be about two correct answers and a bunch of clams and misses.Bamaman wrote:This was a category that scared me. But, having done rather poorly on all other categories except food, I will gladly take this opportunity to gloat. Booyah, chumps!

I do try to enter all the games sooner than later. 4th or 5th or 8th. I'll take it as I surprised myself. Thanks for a fun game and all of us appreciate the effort in running one of the tougher to do contests we have have here.Bamaman wrote:Places 4-8

No offense taken. In fact, I agree -- but what's wrong with clever? Not to insult the fans, but operetta always seemed more clever than substantial
Hmmmm. Lady Sangazure is one of the speechless contraltos, but who is the other? Are you thinking of either Lady Sophy or The Baroness Von Krackenfeldt? Because they both have lines, only the lines are sometimes cut. That person wasn't me. But I was honestly expecting more obscure questions, like "Which two leading characters, both contralto parts, have no spoken lines?" Or "What is Captain Corcoran's fist name?"
Captain Corcoran's first name is Edward.
Teems with quiet fun.

Re: Who's Special #4 (Questions now posted!!!)
While this is easy to score, it can be challenging to write, as Bamaman may have discovered. The goal of the writer in this game (where everyone declares one category in which they feel expert) is to write 5 relatively kids-week level questions and 25 normal-week level. If the goal was too stump all your experts, each entrant would have 5 UToC level questions and 25 stand and stares. Nobody would play.Magna wrote:That person wasn't me. Inez, from The Gondoliers. (Note that this is the kind of question I was expecting, not what I would have written. )immaf wrote:Hmmmm.
