I'm selling my signed copy of Ken Jennings' Brainiac on ebay, if anyone is interested:

I would love a signed copy of Brainiac! (Or any coy really). However, the "To John Fletcher" part is somewhat of a deal-breaker, as my name isn't John Fletcher. :( I would think though that it would appeal to those who fall in the confluence of a Venn diagram with circles indicating "nerds", "those who don't have a copy of Ken Jennings' first book" and "people named John Fletcher", though. :)

(Out of curiosity, what were the circumstances behind the signing?)

I got mine signed when he was touring after the book came out. He was speaking down in Boca Raton (or thereabouts) and was signing afterwards.

I thought Vanya wasn't a Jennings fan. Why buy the book and have it signed to begin with?

That's the correct question for this clue:

Boardie whose avatars of

"This is Not Me"

I'll take Boar Dies for 800 please, Billy.

It was at a book signing. I'd never been to one before, so I thought what the heck. I knew at the time I shouldn't have gotten it signed to me, but I did anyway. And this was before he was rude to me on his message board, which is the source of my animosity towards him.

Oh, and my current avatar is Romanian :) .

if you want to PM me your snail mail addy, I can send you my copy. I was about to cycle it back to the paperback swap pool, but you're welcome to it. You can keep it if you like, or if you merely want to read it (a la a library loan), that's ok too and we'll figure out what to do once you're done.

You are certainly welcome to send it to me when you're done.

Paucle, why would you (or anybody) want to part with it?

I'm trying to unclutter, and while it's a very enjoyable read, I've already done so twice. I am slowly unloading my book collection and this is a "hot" cycler in paperbackswap. I'm just giving it back to "the system" that gave it to me. Maphead, BTW, I thought was even better. I was about to PBswap that, too.

By the time I'm done reducing, my books will probably consist entirely of Uncle John's Bathroom Readers and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Oh, definitely, as a diehard geography geek, I'm looking forward to Maphead more. Your view of recycling books you've read before makes sense to me.

I'll shoot a PM along.

And Brian, I'm sure there'll be another boardie jumping in soon.

Also the name of a playwright who was a contemporary of Shakespeare. I doubt he'll ever be a clue on Jeopardy, though.

The Word of the Day is "exonym", courtesy of the Prickly City comic strip.

And for those who don't get the strip, you can see it here: http://www.chron.com/entertainment/comi ... -01-19.php. (Not sure how to link the image directly, nor do I really want to, respecting copyright and all that (felt that way long before I'd heard of SOPA, ftr.))
