Had you played and come in last, you'd be Chester Arthur.dhkendall wrote:I am so glad I didn't have to score this what with all the twists and turns!
I do, however, wish I had participated.

He does look rather similar to Handsome Frank. But I felt I needed a non-president to distinguish me from those who played and earned a rank. So my avatar is Alexis de Tocqueville, the Frenchman who published his 2-volume Democracy in America in 1835 and 1840.Bamaman wrote:Who is that in your avatar? Franklin Pierce?

The scoreboard says I have 40 points. With this avatar I was thinking my score should be Fourteen Points? Thanks for the game. It was a fun one and well thought out. I learned my lesson about bypassing potential helps.

I can't wait for TPH to show up in this thread with Charlemagne as his avatar, except it will actually be a picture of Garfield. (The cat, not the President)

And let me put in a plug for his work as one of the great 19th C political documents which still makes for some fascinating reading. While I'm about it, one of the great 18th C political documents to read are the Federalist papers by Publius (Madison, Hamilton and occasionally Jay). Not only do you get an armchair perspective on the thinking surrounding the drafting of the Constitution but there is an excellent parlor game in deciding who wrote which letter. There's nothing better for a cold S California night with a bottle of Auchentoshan at the readyopusthepenguin wrote:He does look rather similar to Handsome Frank. The old board was (I think) the only board where I've ever used an avatar... I'm happy to bow to board pressure once again.
This was the closest I find to a picture of Reagan that expresses the amount of respect I have for him.

Avatar tradition prevents me from doing that, but I'll meet you half-way.Bamaman wrote: In honor of my finish, I am incorporating FDR as my avatar for the next month and challenge everyone else (even Woof) to do the same.

Really good game. Congrats to the podium-istas and to Opus for a well-written and well-managed game.
