This depends on how you define "from 1960's" . . . Shirley Bassey recorded "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" in the 1960s, though the song was not released until the 1990s.

Given the double double, I say we count it as "from" the Sixties!

Judge Judy would agree. Many times I've heard her say, "Um is not a word." Randy put it on page one so that's good enough for me.

I've heard the song used recently for a Hyundai ad with Jeff Bridges doing voice work.
Judge Judy says a lot of things better left unsaid or at least unheard.

There must have been some miscommunication among the songwriter, publisher, distributor and artist on "Um,...." Even though the song is titled "Um,..." the Major is clearly singing it as "Mm,..." In any event, as seaborgium pointed out, I did say that nonsense words count.

I like the double double aspect, but upon checking I see that "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" -- originally intended as the main theme to "Thunderball" -- never made the Billboard singles charts (40, 100, or any) in either the 60s or 90s. So far the list includes two qualifying double doubles: "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" and "Bye Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye.)"

Doing really well! Still a couple of huge hits not taken yet. One includes another nonsense word.

Anybody remember this double-worder? I think I still have the 45 somewhere.

Que Sera, Sera - the original Doris Day version is too early (1956), but it was covered by other bands and charted in the 1960s.

Indeed! Now I wonder whether there are any other doublers on a distinct foreign language word.

Speaking of songs from a movie -- "Que Sera Sera" was from "The Man Who Knew Too Much" -- I just heard on the radio another charting doubler, this one the title song from a very successful 1960s Broadway show that has had countless revivals.

Would that be
Spoiler
"Bye Bye Birdie"
? Either that or "The Sound Sound of Music".

Nor more need for spoilers. "Bye Bye Birdie" is an excellent guess, but the title track never charted. No, not "The Sound Sound of Music" nor "Oh, My My, Fair Lady" ;)

Surely! I guess I shoulda checked my list first before wondering out loud whether there were any other foreign language doublers. And I always thought that "Iko Iko" was a nonsense lyric, but apparently it's derived from native languages in the New Orleans area.

Nice! Have to disallow "They're Coming...," though, as the actual title is "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!"

Oh, I doubt that that's it for you.

Yup, The Rivingtons. Seems as if you put together any combination of nonsense lyrics -- often one of these doubles -- you're bound to hit upon a late 50s to early 60s song.

No, this wasn't a Cher original.

Just a little side discussion about this song. It begins "Everybody likes to cha cha cha. Little children like to cha cha cha." Did you ever wonder why that line about children is doing there? My pet theory is it's there to make it clear that "cha cha cha"
Spoiler
isn't a euphemism for sex. The rest of the song is about the narrator teaching his date how to do it, and how she now can't get enough of it and wants to cha cha cha all the time. The line about little children doing it signals that it's really about enjoying the dance. Which may or may not be completely true, but it kept the song from turning into an adolescent joke and/or getting banned from the airwaves.

Maybe so, but it still got Sam Cooke killed.
