I've heard it called a "dirty double cross". Happens to me all the time.

Re: Reretaken Down
The term in the crossword community is "Natick", after a town in Massachusetts that was part of just a situation.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

Here's an explanation from Rex Parker, coining the term:teapot37 wrote:The term in the crossword community is "Natick", after a town in Massachusetts that was part of just a situation.

Gloriaclemente: my point is that I don't care what amazon or any live book dealer thinks of my choices. Just give me a fair deal & the right change. Whether you think my purchase of a Kardashashian bio (for instance) is pretty cool for a middle aged guy or a damning indictment of my sophistication is of zero consequence to me. At least with amazon I get a good deal & none of the smugness.

Now, how about those moments of synchronicity when you go to enter a crossword clue and someone says the exact word on the TV or radio?Magna wrote:Here's an explanation from Rex Parker, coining the term:teapot37 wrote:The term in the crossword community is "Natick", after a town in Massachusetts that was part of just a situation.

I offer up my suggestion (0 hits on the Google!): Synchrocrucity
Runner-up: Cross-captioning (which apparently is already a term used in marching band competitions)

Re: Reretaken Down
Or how about the synchronicity of when someone dies & then Alex reads their name in a clue?

Maybe someone saw your blog entry?Rex Kramer wrote:I know, it's been two whole days, how can I have kept you waiting so long?
My less than avid readers (yes, Vanya, I mean you) will even like this post -- in fact it would fit quite nicely under "Pet Intellectual Peeves":

Honestly.

Or maybe he just saw the same food truck I saw.

Re: Reretaken Down
i think of susurrus as a whispering or rustling noise, which would have a white spectrum instead of any particular pitch.
