The Dallas airing was interrupted by Obama's speech and subsequent commentary. So I'll be waiting for the board and archives for the results...

Wow, was this a bizarre board. Ran Fruity Rhyme Time, Stars and Partial Opposites, but was completely lost on Marx, Lennon, State Capital Birthplaces and African American Actresses.

I knew the Columbia Pictures logo, and could see it in my head, but just could not get the name out. "Oh, um… MGM? No, it's like a record label. Liberty, Capitol… begins with a C… um, crap."

I have honestly never seen Halle Berry, so I never knew she was black.

I did pick up on Kennedy = Boston after it was said, but is there any reason I should know any of those other people are from those particular towns? That category seemed a little too difficult for the board, given the stand-and-stares.

No clue on FJ! as usual.

"Scary" and "cherry" rhyme? Riiiiiiight.

Never heard of a righty being referred to as a "northpaw" before.

Not sure what Japanese beer that was. I guessed Sapporo.

I've certainly heard of the book, but wouldn't have gotten it if you gave me a month.

Did you forget it was an "A" category?

I have been playing and watching baseball since I was 7 or so, and I have never heard of a northpaw. Southpaw is the only one I've heard. Jeopardy writers aren't baseball fans apparently.

If they had given the clue about it being banned, I probably would have gotten FJ. As it stands, no idea.

Yes, I did, but it wouldn't have mattered.

It's the whole Mary, marry, merry thing. Those are three distinct words to me.

Heh, I knew people here would mention scary cherry. The way I usually say them, they mostly rhyme. *shrug*

Add another 'never seen the word northpaw in my life' to the list, though I did get it right.

Danced around the right answer from a hundred different directions, but it just wouldn't come to me (then again, even after getting as far as Das K-, I blanked on f*&@ing DAS KAPITAL, so this wasn't a banner day). I've been missing a lot of gettable FJs lately. *sigh*

Could be because I'm from Michigan. From what I'm reading, Midwestern dialect tends to mess around with certain vowels. I notice that I tend to say "melk" instead of "milk", and I get a weird sound in some A's (e.g. words like "cat" and "dad" come out closer to two syllables).

Once again no idea on FJ

9 right in the first round, including the sweep of the John Lennon category and 4 right in the second round.

My Oklahoma native girlfriend agrees that scary/cherry rhyme. I'm from Jersey and they're quite distinct when I say them. Go regional accents!

I was underwhelmed by this board. This one took the cake for having clues that were too trivial. This brought back memories of Wright vs. Rhee vs. Spak. Please, don't blame the contestants for this game. I am not sure if they could have done better on a more well written board, but they deserve the benefit of any doubt that there may be.

I guessed The Plague on FJ. I think that it was probably a good clue, but they should have saved it for the finals of UToC II.

I also guessed The Plague for FJ. Sounds like that would be a good poll question.

The Kennedy family is pretty famously associated with Massachusetts, so in the top row Boston was a pretty reasonable guess. I didn't know Dick Cheney was from Nebraska, but I did know Bob Kerrey, as he ran for President (against Bill Clinton in 1992) and was always listed as being a senator from that state. Bobby Jones, if you're a golf fan, is identified with the Masters, which is held outside Atlanta, so that was another reasonable guess, but if you're not a golf fan, like presumably the three ladies on tonight's show, good luck. I didn't even have a guess on Samuel Colt and Katharine Hepburn being from Connecticut, nor for William Kennedy as the guy who wrote about Albany .

Das Kapital was a TS? Sorry but I'm blaming the players. Tough to watch. A category & a half went by w/o even a guess. It makes for boring viewing. It was cool to see the champ bet wisely & gain another win.
