I thought the Teen Tourney started next Wednesday.

And now, with three regular games remaining for the ToC, a new champ crowned last night, and a four-win minimum for participating in this one, we can consider the field set; the most that could happen now is a 4x champ being held over until after the ToC is over.
There are five regular games left before the ToC.

This might be a good time to mention that I HATE trampolines!

Good luck to everyone in the field. I'll enjoy every minute, as always.
Hey, Andrew! Too bad about the TOC, but I love your writing on the Gints, even though your book about the magical '10 WS directly competed with one written by a dear friend of mine. Any plans for a book on the '12 WS?
Thanks, much appreciated. Are you friends with Chris Haft, by chance? No book this time -- I needed some R&R!

Might boardies be interested in OntarioQuizzer's pre-tournament Q & A with Jason Keller, especially since the latter doesn't post here? It's at thejeopardyfan.com. (There's a link in my signature, below.)

Nope, my friend is his co-author, actually. I'm not sure whether they're going to reprise their effort, either, though the material this time around is at least as good I feel. Have a good R&R.

Site's up:

http://www.jeopardy.com/minisites/tourn ... pions-s29/

Matchups:

Wednesday: Stephanie / Paul / Jason S.
Thursday: Colby / David M. / Joel
Friday: David G. / Jason K. / Monica
Monday: Dan / Kristin / Keith
Tuesday: Dave / Ashok / Patrick

I have an obvious bias on Friday's game.

Guesses: Stephanie, either Colby or David (not sure here), Jason, Keith, Dave for auto-semifinalists.

Also, I love the video for the TOC with all the former TOC winners (Tom, Rachael, Mike, Dan, Michael, Celeste, Dan, Vijay and Roger.)

Purely for comedy's sake, I want to see David, David, and Dave make the final.

I think TPTB did a pretty good job picking the quarterfinal match ups (I am not sure if having so many players who met previously and who had the same first names played a role in that). The only thing I don't like is Jason S. and Stephanie in the same quarterfinal game...poor Paul is going to have his work cut out for him. I think that I would have swapped out David M. with either Jason S. or Stephanie (even though that could have put two superchamps against each other).

Predictions
winners: Jason S., Colby, Jason K., Keith, Dave L.
wild cards: Stephanie, David M., Kristin, Ashok

It DID have an effect; I'm pretty sure that Maggie told us that we had an unusually high number of same-named contestants AND folks that had played each other, and those are the first variables they consider when matching players up. Will we get a Dave-Dave-David final? Only time will tell, my friends! (Well, not ONLY time, but I'M not telling!) :)

It's funny, I'm totally fine with having lost my ToC, and I don't resent anyone's victory, but it kinda pisses me off that I'm not among those people featured in the scroll! (Also, you left out Mark Lowenthal and Robin Carroll! Wonder why they left out the other 12.)

My apologies for missing Mark & Robin, just a case of who I saw when I wrote it.

So going by the pure seeds from chuck's original posting (wins comes first, then amounts, we have)

Wednesday: 3/8/9
Thursday: Teach/4/6
Friday: 1/10/Coll
Monday: 2/7/12
Tursday: 5/11/Teach

Interesting distribution there. I'm a little surprised that Colby's matched up with a six-game and five-game champ (both at 115-116k) while Patrick matched up with a lower earning six-game champ and a four-game champ. (Edited, thanks Seaborgium)

Luckily, in the ToC, there's really no such thing as an easy matchup (well, shouldn't be), so I'm looking forward to it.

Patrick's up against the other 6xer.

Here are my predictions after viewing the matchups and watching the interviews:

Winners: Stephanie, Colby, Jason K., Kristin, Ashok
Wildcards: David M., Keith, Dave, Patrick

I can't wait to see how it all goes down! :)

I don't know how you cannot have Jason Shore on your semi list. He's one of the few that I believe can hang with Stephanie. I think Paul Nelson got a brutal draw. It will make for an interesting first game.

I have Jason Shore in my Gold group, but his video interview for the TOC left me less than inspired.

The draw for this TOC seems very fair with no person having a right to complain.

7/5/4
T/5/6
4/9/C
4/5/7
6/4/T

9,7,7,6,6 were all separated. T,T and C were separated. The women were separated. The 4xers were split. The 5xers were split. As for Paul getting a brutal draw? Plug him in for another 5 spot.

Paul, Colby, Joel
Dan, Paul, Keith

Any better? Jason Keller earned the right to get a decent appearing draw with David G. and Monica. Paul did not.

Winners vs. Wildcards does not matter to me. It's just about the final 9.

Stephanie/Paul/Jason S.
Colby/David M./Joel
David G./Jason K./Monica
Dan/Kristin/Keith
Dave L./Ashok/Patrick

I'll say:
Stephanie
Jason S.
Colby
David M.
Jason
David G.
Keith
Dan
Last man standing in QF5 tough clue - I'll go Dave to keep the David, David, Dave final alive :)

If Kristin can play like she did in her #4 or #5 then Keith could be a surprise early exit. Stephanie and Jason Keller would appear to have clearer paths to the semis.
