All instant and correct save Robespierre, who I am abashed to say was an instant miss. My thought process was equally superficial and ineffectual as the contestants'.

Dang Coleridge. And my punchy side wants to say fear of scooters instead of wasps. I'm a little short on sleep, so am finding myself pretty funny tonight.

I was pretty sure Louis XVI was wrong but don't know enough about French history (add that to the list...).
If it had said "albatross" instead of "bird" I'd have gotten it. Although I knew the meter was wrong, could only think of Hiawatha...
All the rest were instagets. I thought "pink" was one of the easiest ever, but when I posed it to DH, I had to give him about 5 hints. He finally stated that when he thinks of fiberglass, insulation is the last thing that comes to mind (the first being aircraft, boats, sportscars, etc.) Weird. (Oh hey, the word "insulation" was actually in the clue??  Maybe he missed it because I just said "fiberglass"... But still, to me fiberglass=insulation at first thought - then all the other stuff...)

Went with Captain Marvel instead of Captain America (do I get half credit for getting the right rank? ) and went with Longfellow - focused on the arrow part instead of the bird; the correct response gave me the bird, alright....

This would have been my first ever 8/8 for a regular-play week but I rejected Robespierre as being too obscure for FJ. Capt. America took me almost 20 seconds to get, LBJ won over Nixon on a coin toss, and the other two were instagets. I had actually read about the color pink being trademarked the last time we had a discussion about patents/trademarks/copyrights on the old board.

Ichthyophobia and hemophobia were the two in that category that I would say that I have (I don't have a fear of work so much as an aversion to it ;) ). I imagine that I would be afraid if I found myself in a vespiary or suffering from sciatica, but thankfully neither of those has happened to me.

*Almost* fell into the Louis XVI trap, but it wasn't the year, that just sounded more like the guy who orchestrated the Reign of Terror
The rest were Instant x4

Ichthy was instant, gunshy on wasps, blanked on the nerve.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

Friday...Friday...how could you, Friday?!?!?

Anyways, this is the second week in a row I've been robbed of my first perfecto (Interestingly enough, on the Friday clue rather than the Monday one), but at least I had a 8-FJ streak from Tuesday of Kids Week to Thursday this week, and I've gone 11/15 the past three weeks. That's MUCH better than normal for me. :)

Monday I got thanks to learning extensively about the French Revolution in 8th grade Social Studies (we also read "A Tale of Two Cities"). Tuesday was an instaget (yeah, the commercials for the movie definitely helped). Wednesday took a bit of teasing, but it came out soon enough (even though I'm not a fan of the 'work' of Coleridge), and Thursday, LBJ was my first and only thought.

Pink was in my mind on Friday (I almost instantly could see the pink insulation in my head), but I thought it just HAD to be some sort of weird color, and not being able to think of one, I eventually went with beige. Sigh...

First 8/8 in recent memory for me. I had to play all these off the archive due to the demise of my DVR; but I finally exchanged my cable box at Time Warner today (for another crappy "refurb" that will probably give out after a year), so I look forward to watching the games on TV again.

I had Louis XVI on Tuesday, though I considered Robespierre and wrote both down, I crossed him out at the last second.

I knew what the poem was but not its author, went with Longfellow just to have something.

Never heard of anyone fearing fish, but the wording made it the only possible answer. Got the nerve but not the wasp home.

Tuesday was a forehead slapper for me.
Friday had me humming the color-appropriate movie-theme tune that they used to use in the insulation commercials. Hmm do they still use that theme? Haven't been paying attention.
