Re: Monday, February 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Let's talk about Robbie Burns with a real irish accent... Scottish, m'boy, e's Scottish Maybe my interpretation of Trebek was Irish. :D Point is still the same. Alex made it fun without losing the seriousness of the game. Whoever gets the job will likely never be viewed as being nearly as good. You...

Re: Monday, February 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Still on Team Ken after watching this game. Similar to what Andy said -- Mike made this way too game-show-y and unserious. You can tell that Mike is way more of a reality TV producer rather than a fan of the game, which is what Ken was. The reverence that Ken had for Alex and for the show is just n...

Re: Monday, February 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I liked the cut of David's jib going gutsy on DD3, but the actual wager left something to be desired. The score at the time was 18400/15200/5200. A wager of $4,400 would have put him (at least temporarily) in a crush position, while it would have taken a wager of $12,000 to put him in a lock positi...

Very pleased with myself. Pulled the Nassau County Coliseum from occasionally watching New York Islanders hockey game on WOR-TV on cable in rural central Pennsylvania as a teenager in the 1980s. Never would have got it as a normal clue by as a daily double, it took about 10 to 15 seconds and it came...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
I get they were kind of thrown for a loop when Alex died. But TPTB should have had a better contingency plan in place than than a revolving door of guest hosts. The sad thing is, I think you're right... they were thrown for a loop. Yes. They were THROWN FOR A LOOP and "CAUGHT OFF GUARD" when an oct...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
More guest hosts announced. https://www.jeopardy.com/jbuzz/news-events/additional-guest-hosts-join-jeopardy Oh, good grief. Why don't we just have a week of Michael Moore and another one of Sean Hannity? Maybe throw Dr. Phil in there. Just my gut feeling, but if they worked for Sony, there is a goo...

Re: Monday, February 1, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
As a boy, I watched Sesame Street and couldn't believe that New York City was part of the United States. It looks like this filthy, dirty place where kids played in the street and the houses were built all the way out to the sidewalk with no lawns and people hung their wash across the alley. The bu...

Re: Monday, February 1, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
1986 Spring semester as a freshman undergrad for a Humanities class. I was forced to read this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entropy:_A_New_World_View It was the single most boring book, I've ever read. Needless to say, FJ was a gimmie. The class wasn't worth it, I'd rather have not known the answe...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
That Katie Couric could apparently seek this job and still feel comfortable with her interview last week... challenging the bubble mentality may not be on Sony's dashboard and that could cost them. I highly doubt people who are quite literally stuck in an alternative reality built on lies are going...

Re: Ken Jennings as a Host Poll
I posted in another thread that he is doing better than I thought he would and I would not mind if he got the full time job. Having said that, on here, I voted that he's ok but I'd like to see what some others do. Right now, all we have to compare him to is Trebek. He's not that good, maybe no one e...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
As long as the host doesn’t give their political views on the show I don’t care what they say or do in real life. This is not true of all people, but think of it this way. Take an actor, TV host or someone you just don't like for some reason. Now, they are going to host jeopardy, are you still goin...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
I will renew my begging for a new host who has no connection to or interest in politics. I'd also be willing to bet, because Jeopardy! is all about demonstrating your knowledge of facts, that they're at bare minimum not Republicans -- considering the GOP has no concept of that sorta thing. Keep tal...

A wheelhouse catagory for me would be Blockbusters prior to 2010. In looking 22 of the 25 highest grossing movies have occured since 2010. Hated that FJ the second the clue came up. During the break, I'm going through the blockbusters going back to Gone with the wind, Sound of Music, Jaws, Star Wars...

Re: Friday, November 27, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
There are some groups in Africa who still refer to the Democratic Republic of Congo as Zaire. Do you think the judges would rule that correct? I thought Uganda was a little too far south for some reason, so I would've put Tanzania (which is too far south), but I was thinking about going for the Zai...

Re: Tuesday, November 10, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Eastern, Pan Am and TWA all came to mind, and I've never seen "2001". I could eliminate TWA, I remember flying into St Louis in 1999 and looking at the TWA dome.
Pan Am was just more popular, and I thought Eastern went out of business prior to 1991, which was incorrect.

Re: Fourth Podium Poll for 10/16/2020 (Part 2)
I checked "I negged on FJ with a different Copland composition" but I actually put down "Ozark Spring." So it was really that I knew the piece being referred to, I just messed up the name. I have an engineering degree, but in the fall of 1987, took Music 5 "An Intro to Western Music" (I had to take...

This is right up my alley and I knew I should get it. Precalls were basically the highest paid guys currently in team sports. I went to Micheal Jordan immediately and knew it was right. Wait a second 18 or 19 in 1982 when UNC won it all. Too old. Now, I'm thinking tennis and golf. I knew immediately...

 :( :( :(   I think I had the best wrong answer three times with Quincy Jones, and Picasso and Byron. Gordy just didn't come to me, but I picked the other two over Rivera and Coleridge. Both times, it was just a matter of not knowing enough. Rivera/Pica...
