Re: Jeopardy! National College Championship

One other major reason for the confusion amongst media outlets surrounding the format is that the format was going to be one way under Mike Richards, but was changed after Mike Richards was let go. I understand the Richards format had some weapons under the podiums that could be used between questi...

Re: Jeopardy! National College Championship

I'm guessing, but based on the dates. 11 one hour episodes, or 22 games.

36 college contestants. 12 games, that gives you 12 winners and 3 wild cards that advanced to the round with 15

Regular 15 person tournament. There are 10 games.

Re: Friday, December 17, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Sherm: It was fun reading your posts in the Thursday thread while having knowledge of what happened in the Friday game. :) Much appreciated, but I was thinking I might have post-jinxed Sam while watching the final this morning. I got tied up last night. The final game is the first where he didn't l...

Re: Thursday, December 16, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I shouldn't even say this, because it means he'll lose tonight. Sam is going to be a force in the next TOC. The next one is starting to line up with a handful of what I believe are really strong players. HE seems to be able to hammer the word play stuff as well as the fact based material. I'm not s...

Outside of posting I really can't do much on these board, but I know a lot of you can. As a result, I've been waiting all day on this board for somebody to do this. Paste a picture of Hester Blum beside Mariksa Hargitay. With the glasses, I thought it looked pretty obvious. Like possibly celebrity j...

Re: Are there any Tournaments in store for Season 38?

I want the seniors tournament brought back, and it has nothing to do with me turning 55 in a couple of months. OK, it has everything to do with me turning 55 in a couple of months. Hey, if they invite me to be on the show, who really gives a crap about a bunch of old farts getting to play, and this ...

Re: Thursday, November 18, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Naturally I’m a fan of aggressive play when it’s warranted, but I feel Taylor’s TDD was a strategic error. Was barely behind in Coryat going into the first DD so was close to even on the buzzer. The 3rd and 4th row clues were TS’s earlier in the round so it’s pretty clear it’s a weak category for e...

Why do anything that makes it easier for second to win with a stupid bet? First, define "stupid bet", based on the fact that Andrew cost himself a little over four grand, one can argue that one dollar was the stupid bet. Is $4000 a good reason, and if Jeff had less than 50% of Molly's tot...

I wish they would go back to writing the clue at the bottom of the screen below the video clue. I'm looking at a picture of the big lake with a bath tub ring, and I'm thinking Hoover Dam Lake. I heard the words bathtub ring and Arizona while I'm doing this, but never heard the word Utah and didn't r...

I was surprised at the triple stump on Never Say Never Again. I guess they are all too young, but the title had an extra meaning at the time because it had Connery returning to the role after ceding it to Roger Moore for 12 years... Remembered the time frame. Remembered Kim Basinger being a Bond gi...

I've got to say that I think Ken blew Mayim out of the water as far as hosting. The difference was quite stark. I wish they had given him the hosting job outright. Things like this are matters of opinion, but I think he is noticealby better. Not that Bialik isn't good. Both are good. IMO, Jennings ...

All of the ones that have gotten the shot are not getting any type of booster and the ones that had yet to get the shot. Aren't going to get it. Without saying anything else about your post... hopefully the unvaccinated ones are adhering to your company's guidelines, and all other health guidelines...

Re: How Did Aaron Rodgers Do as Host?

When it comes to COVID and the shot. I work for a small engineering firm. Early this summer a healthy 56 year old CAD operator I work with got the first of two shots. Two days later he got sick, and I mean really sick. Went to the hospital about two days after that. A week later he's been transferre...

The deal with whip is harsh, but it lends credence to what Matt Amodio was doing. He would have said, "What's whip", which makes it right as either a noun or a verb.

A whip is a thing. That makes it not a verb.

Also, "near the Pacific" is vague and subjective. and it threw me off the correct answer. I guess you can say anyplace in Chile is near the ocean, but I knew Santiago is not a coastal city while Lima is. I thought of Santiago first and thought Lima might be a bit north. Then I thought Lim...

I had a english class in HS. Six weeks, it was all Eugene Oniell. I couldn't tell you how many pulitzers he won, but I knew it was a few. I knew he also has a noble prize in literature when a lot of the well known american writers do not (the big one there is F Scott Fitgerald), he also the only pur...

I've never seen Hamliton. I guessed George III. Kinda who else could it be.

I grew up listening to the Police. I have every album they've made. I never thought of Roxanne. The Jeopardy! She is a brutal game.
