Re: J! in the Media

I vote that Amazon is merchandise, not media.

Re: Final Fleming Episode

I guess that since Brad Rutter lost to Watson that Robin (Robyn?) Geehan(?) is really the only undefeated Jeopardy player (except for the ToC winners I guess, except for Burns Cameron).

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

I haven't written anything lately out of superstition, but I just had a 4-0-1 streak end yesterday. Despite this, I am still only two points ahead of relegation in my C League rundle. I think that the secret to my recent success is that I've finally gotten the feel of playing defense again.

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

I was a bit upset with myself not remembering Turkey wasn't a country until after WWI, but was glad to get credit. I knew from a recent read of a Lawrence of Arabia bio that he was fighting Turks and also connected Gallipoli/Turkey/WWI. Was pretty sure Bulgaria was correct based on books about Russ...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

Not recalling your nom de Llam', I can't check if "scull" was accepted or not, but I'm guessing that it was, and that the commissioner didn't want to penalize people who figured out "scull," thought the question compelled a suffix, and chose the wrong one. Why do you say that? If it's the counterpa...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

If anybody here got Moscow, I'd love to know what led you to it. I thought it was common trivia knowledge Moscow considered itself the Third Rome. Umm...no. I went with Jerusalem. So did I. Now I feel better as I am in good company. I won yesterday with five correct to move out of the relega...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

It wasn't until I got here that I finally connected with Bayeaux Tapestry. It just raised a big question mark with me during and after the round. It was my only miss, but my opponent gave me a zero for it, so I wound up 9(5). Still 3-5 and barely out of relegation. My opponent gave me a three on the...

Re: Questions about getting tickets, and other stuff

I’ve been to the AM session which starts at 11. Think you need to get there by 10:15 but check your confirmation email. Don’t know what happens if you show up late. They line you up and lead you through the studio lot in single file. You pass through a metal detector, then enter the studio and get ...

Re: Questions about getting tickets, and other stuff

In that case, I know they are always looking for new blood because not everyone shows up every week. You would be welcomed with open arms. :D Please forgive my earlier negative assumptions. I'm in a sour mood this week. In fact, I was about to delete my prior comment but Dave had already responded t...

Re: Questions about getting tickets, and other stuff

No one yet has answered my question about whether or not the Wednesday night quiz at O'Briens is open to the general public, or just to people who have appeared on the show before. Assuming this is the correct website -- which I think it is -- it's open to everyone who wants to play. http://obriens...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

We all know that Thorsten tends toward generosity. How you feel about that often depends on whether his generosity helped you or hurt you in a particular match! :) I can finally scratch my itch and respond to this after waiting for almost an entire day--I was relieved that Thorsten didn't "ding" me...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

I recorded a 4(3)-3(2) victory on MD5, to end my first week in D rundle at 3-2 and in 10th place. Thorsten was generous on the pop music question; I said the acts had berries in their names and got credit for it. I knew Strawberry Alarm Clock and the Raspberries but wasn't sure about the other acts...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

The Spice Girls almost tripped me up too except I knew that Bananarama fit the rest of the theme. After I submitted the answers and I told my wife the question, she pointed out to me that the Spice Girls were not a trio--there were five of them--so even though the Spice Girls are the biggest selling...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

I was clobbered yesterday 7(5)-1(1). It would have made the score more respectable (7-4) if I would have put down "obtuse" for the angle, which was the first thing that popped into my head, but the way the question was phrased (using pi instead of degrees) made me think that was wrong. I should have...

Re: Learned League 74 - Official Thread

Dang, really surprised that the GotG clue on Twilight Zone was the 2nd least guessed. That was a massive story...or so I thought... I was shocked that I won this quiz (actually tied with one other person) although I knew that I got all 12 right after I submitted it. :o I thought it was quite easy. ...

Re: Learned League 74 - Official Thread

Well, I certainly fell back to Earth in the 1960s finale. I finished 212th out of 314 with five right (my usual score, but this time there were 12 questions). I would have finished about 40 places higher if I had been confident enough on my Shostakovich answer to make it a money question, but instea...

Re: Learned League 74 - Official Thread

I actually wound up winning my group in the '60s ML, beating boson in the tiebreaker. We both finished 8-1-2. I actually thought that the first tiebreaker was total correct answers, not match play differential, so I had assumed that boson would get the tiebreaker. Not that it made any differe...

Re: Learned League 74 - Official Thread

Well, I confess that math and statistics are not my forte, so I am kind of carelessly playing with matches here. I supposed that someone would take me to task here, although I figured that it would be boson. This is the way I thought of it, flawed or not. I know (or, in this case, had a high probabi...

I'll bet that everyone that got the McCovey question because of the Peanuts cartoon got the Charlie Brown Halloween question right last season. ;)
