Re: Monday, April 24, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I'm very excited about tonight's show. Dillon Hupp is the son of one of my college friends with whom I was involved in theater.

Re: Reretaken Down

This Spring marks the 50th anniversary of when the incredibly bad musical remake of "Lost Horizon" came out. This film was so bad that it was the actual cause of the break-up of the classic songwriting team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David and (coincidentally?) the Fifth Dimernson's last to...

Art Fleming on "What's My Line?"

50 years ago, on February 1, 1973, then-Jeopardy host Art Fleming was the Mystery Guest on "What's My Line". Listen to the voice he affects!

Re: Thursday, December 1, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I did not say that it would have misled people--if you know that Gene Kelly co-hosted "That's Dancing" then you certainly know that he was in "Xanadu" with Olivia Newton John--however the clue is at best sloppily worded and at worst wrong factually because "Xanadu" was ...

Re: Thursday, December 1, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

That's exactly what my friend said the clue was. This means that the clue is wrong--or at the very least not satisfactorally pinned. They might have even filmed Gene Kelly's narration spots for "That's Dancing" on one of the studios on the lot. Didn't MGM used to use the lot before Sony to...

Re: Thursday, December 1, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I did not watch this game (but will watch tonight's because a sister of a friend is on) but did the Gene Kelly clue say that "Xanadu" was his last film? One of my Facebook friends said that the clue was written that way. If it was, the clue was wrong--"That's Dancing", a MGM clip...

Re: LL Season 93

For "In a beloved book and television series, Edward is #2, Henry is #3, Gordon is #4, James is #5, Percy is #6, and Toby is #7. Who is #1?" I responded "You are Number Six!"

I still don't know what the book and television series asked about is.

Re: LL Season 90

Well, after getting pummelled at the beginning in Laguna B with a 4-10-3 record which left me begging for a relegation to C League, I looked at my remaining schedule and saw that my remaining matches were against players with either losing records or barely winning records. I worried that this could...

Re: Mike Richards OUT as host

Unfortunately the writer completely lost her objective credibility with me when she said that LeVar Burton was "all around terrific" as a guest host.

Re: Who do you think should be the permanent host of Jeopardy!?

That's a very good point. With Ken as the EP, the production and presentation of the game would be in safe hands, and he could guest host if (no irorny intended) the permanent host (e.g. Mayim Bialek) has a conflict.

Re: Mike Richards OUT as host

Roberts, Faber, and Buck each did five shows in one day with the same editing process and all three were fantastic. I would be fine with any of them as the new host. And they only had one week. Don’t give Burton another appearance. While I agree with this in a vacuum, LeVar Burton does have a strid...

Re: Mike Richards OUT as host

I see the LeVar promotion machine is out again in full force. If his legions of fans love him so much and want him as host, where were they during his week of episodes? Surely someone with that many fans would have had the highest viewership? Odd... I've been seeing a bunch of people on Face...

Re: Mike Richards OUT as host

I wonder if anyone asked Matt Amodio if he would be nervous with Ken Jennings watching from the audience.

I don't know if he is still alive, but Colin Mochrie would be a great person to try out.

Re: Mike Richards OUT as host

I thought they'd try and ride this out, since a lot of damage was already done. Now they have to ride out constant calls for LeVar Burton and anything other than choosing Burton will keep feeding the media circus. I wonder how many of the folks that are still clamoring for LaVar Burton actually wat...

Re: Mike Richards OUT as host

I wish they would just pick Ken as the permanent host and be done with it (although Laura Coates, if she really was Alex's choice, must get a look see and should have the first time around).

Boy, I bet Aaron Rodgers wishes now he waited to report to training camp. :)

Re: Mike Richards OUT as host

This is terrific news although it probably will increase my competition again in my attempts to get on the show. Since they have to use yesterday's tapings (which already have a huge interest because Matt Amodio returns) one adjustment they certainly will make is to redub in Johnny Gilbert to ...

Re: REPORT: Mike Richards and Mayim Bialik to split hosting duties

My big concern is that Richards as Executive Producer and Host will take the opportunity to "modernize" the show for "current sensibilities". In other words, more dumbed down categories, more snark, less actual knowledge and more gimmicks. That said, I'll be finally attempting ag...

Re: Thursday, April 29, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Was this the record largest combined total for three contestants heading into FJ? 53,000 is nothing to sneeze at. Emily went from $9600 to $36,600 with just two responses! As it turns out, the April 29, 2021 game wasn't even the record for the largest combined total for three contestants heading in...

Re: Reretaken Down

This is kind of Jeopardy related but I guess it fits best here. I was performing in a Zoom reading of "Midsummer Night's Dream" yesterday and the actor playing Puck was Meryl Federman, who came back from having no money in the first half of the 2007 Teen Tournament to win the whole thing. ...
