Re: TD 380 - Mother's Day - Q7-Q8 revealed

I cannot believe I screwed up a question about chocolate after all the quality time we've spent together over the years. Hey, if anyone ever plans to roadtrip through Springfield, MO, check out Best Western Rail Haven, an old motor court from the 30's located on Rt. 66. Our first visit happened to ...

Re: TD 372 - CLASSIC AREA CODES 4xx (413 & 414 REVEALED)

I wanted to go with a local brew, but I wasn't sure what would be accepted, so I decided to go with a brand that I've also seen in the grocery store, so I went with Founders. I figured "name a brand of beer" was broad enough that I could pick one of our many local brands. At least it didn't sheep...

Re: LearnedLeague 76 - Official Thread

Besides the identical 6(5)-6(5) my opponent matched me with the same defense number for each question. That's a tie all right. Neither of us were able to get PROMOTION for the three points and the outright victory. We each gave a 1 for FAST MONEY while that played as the hardest Q at only 33%. Than...

Re: LearnedLeague 76 - Official Thread

My opponent must assign defense based on their perception of the objective difficulty of the questions, because they gave me a 3 for Fermat and a 2 for Six Day War. I will take a win however I can get it. My opponent gave me a 2 for Fermat (I answered Pascal). I was thinking, "Dude, did you even lo...

More people getting Six Sigma correct than Nightingale sort of blew my mind. I knew Six Sigma from work, but didn't expect it to be common knowledge.
I first heard the term at Geek Bowl, and then someone had recently mentioned it in one of my business classes, so it was fairly fresh in my mind.

Re: LearnedLeague 76 - Official Thread

Reddpen, I know Busby Berkeley from all the over-the-top dance numbers in the musical films he was involved with. Once again, I'd like to thank Georgette Heyer and (IIRC) Jane Austen for helping me learn about quadrille. MD12's "always write down an answer" moment: "Oh, darn, I don't know who was th...
