Re: Thursday, September 19, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The street in the Hull House clue is a well known Chicago street. [citation needed] "Halsted Street" has zero Archive hits. I wouldn’t say it was a slam dunk TOM, but it was the TOM in the clue. It is one of the major north/south street in downtown Chicago, whether it’s in the archive or not.

Re: Thursday, September 19, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

What was the TOM for Chicago on Hull House for $200? New York seemed like a far more cromulent guess on a big city known for immigrants. . . . This was a very obtuse FJ! Rubik's Cube just didn't seem to fit "3D problems" whatsoever, nor have I ever thought of it as a toy or game. LEGO seemed a far ...

Had no idea the song went back that far, but lived in Quebec for a few years and immediately recognized St Jean Baptiste. Also what other country would have a “Sir” with so many other French references in the clue?

Pictionary Tuesday. Knew what they were going for on Friday, but couldn’t pull the name.

Missed a handful of episodes, mostly around Christmas, and parts of some others I tuned in late to. Not likely to catch up on them

Re: Thursday, July 25, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

It was a choice between Rumours and Hotel California for me, although I thought the former was earlier than 1976 and the latter a few years later. The clue wording pointed me to HC as the more likely choice.

Don't forget that category was FEMALE SINGERS MONONYMOUS, so it wasn't going to be anyone we refer to by a first and last name. (I still kneejerked Joan Baez on the bottom clue like Jim did, though.) Only other British singer I can think of who went by one name was Lulu (probably too old for most p...

Re: Friday, June 28, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I considered Avalon for this clue but only after Camelot had immediately leapt to mind. Camelot seemed like the "obvious" response, so I felt that the clue would be a wicked curveball if the response were actually something else. This feeling may be influenced by the fact that I thought of Camelot ...

Regarding FJ: Took me a few seconds to check my date math before writing down smallpox. The TOM for me worked out as: disease gone (presumably worldwide since no “US only” or other qualifier) since 1978 (2018-40); assuming worldwide, smallpox is the only disease to be completely eradicated in human...

Re: James wouldn't have lost pre-James

Emma came in cold. She made that bet without having seen James play once. How do we know she didn't come to the studio the week before to watch a taping? Official Jeopardy! and press interviews? Would she be required to mention she was there? Does the show keep track of every person in every audien...
