Re: Monday, April 8, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I knew he was a Munchkin, but would "Wizard of Oz cast" been incorrect? The judges and Alex would not appreciate a trouble-making response like that one. It's fine to give yourself a correct for the weekly poll. If you had been on the stage you do not want to give the powers a chance to n...

Fun coincidence:

When the "M.C." category was revealed, I tried to make a precall. I shouted out "Mariah Carey!"

My wife Naurae29 was the second contestant in today's episode. I admit that neither of us have been posting very much on these boards lately.

Re: FJs for the 12/3/18 week

Dopey was an easy guess as with no extra information to specify a different dwarf it's always going to be Dopey. No, I have not seen the clock previously. It's not necessary. It's going to be Dopey. Of course it's Dopey. It's a 1/1 chance and nowhere near a 1 in 7. My wife got Dopey right away, but...

Confucius on Thursday.

Correctly got Turquoise on Friday, but on another day, I almost might have put "azure", since it somewhat sounds like Azerbaijan!

Haven't seen the game yet today but went with Nashville off the Clue of the Day. Only one Oscar won, and the Nash in question was famous in the wrong century. Anyone else? You're not alone! I also guessed Nashville, knowing it was the title of a critically acclaimed film, and not knowing who the ci...

42 if neurons is wrong, 43 if it isn't. I believe it was two years ago that I made a personal best of 49, but then last year I just just just scraped by. Anyway, I wasn't looking to set the world on fire, just to light a flame in a few hearts. So, "neurons" on 3, NHO Zappos as far as I re...

Re: Monday, March 5, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I first wrote down "Olivier" for FJ (I thought that he might have been nominated for both acting and directing for "Hamlet") but then it struck me that the 1940s is also the decade of "Citizen Kane" and Orson Welles was a wunderkind who did everything. Plus I don't thin...

What I wrote down at home in my little notebook was "Mormon church or L.D.S. church", and I'm counting it as correct.

Did anyone correctly guess FJ based only on the category?

I didn't (my precall was "Ankh") but it seemed like one of those categories where a precall is possible.

For what it's worth, the Wikipedia article on "phrase" says that a phrase can be "sometimes a single word". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phrase#Common_and_technical_use I would say that "the fringe" is a phrase that can refer to an extreme group on the edge of a cause....

Do you folks think "Bloody Mary" would have counted as a correct response? That's what I wrote down at home. (I wasn't 100% sure what her regnal number was, but probably would have guessed "the first" if forced to.)

Re: Wednesday, October 4, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I learned something today. Some of you may find this interesting or amusing. I'm not great in American literature from the first half of the twentieth century, and for some reason, I always had a vague idea that "Our Town" was set in Minnesota. Today, I think I figured out why. The titles ...

Am I the only one who was thrown off by the look of the statue? The sailor looked too modern for the 19th century and I had a tough time determining that the thing he was holding was a big bird. Totally with you on that! but the rope around the neck was enough for me. My thought process was similar...

B Summit here, after seven seasons in A Central. I'm pleased to have stayed in A as long as I did, but I never had a serious chance of winning anything there. Only the top three in my rundle will be promoted to A, but I'll try to stay in their vicinity. It'll be fun to have something more to fight f...

Re: Have any auditioners for S34 heard from TPTB?

My wife is one of at least three brunette female lawyers from Florida, aged about 30-35, who have been on the show in the past year and a half. So I wouldn't worry too much about other people in the pool with similar demographic info to oneself.
