Anyone who missed this FJ should make a set of flashcards with the various SI units. This was very much physics 101.

Re: Monday, April 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
The referenced TV coverage did happen. It might not have been at the Sydney Olympics, but a meaningless exhibition event (I think a "thank you" performance) literally happened at one Olympics and was televised instead of important T&F coverage. We only got attention once every four years and that w...

Re: Tuesday, April 13, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I started at Sagittarius then thought, "wait, what about Orion?" Only settled on Orion based on the flimsy assumption that in the absence of other TOM, it would be more obvious to the average viewer. I went the opposite way thinking the constellation that's a zodiac sign--and presumably well-known ...

Re: Monday, April 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Australia was nearly instant for me. Took considerably longer to come up with Germany. For the record, the countries with at least two cities to host a winter Olympics are: U.S. (Lake Placid, Squaw Valley, Salt Lake City) France (Chamonix, Grenoble, Albertville) Norway (Oslo, Lillehammer) Italy (Cor...

Re: Friday, April 9, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Seems like a lot of people forgot the category. Lots of British books being mentioned in this thread. Less "forgot the category," more "wasn't certain enough Watership Down is British not to guess it when it and the definitely-British Animal Farm are the only two names that come to mind." I was mos...

It took me a few seconds, but then I locked in on Of Mice and Men with pretty high confidence. I love John Steinbeck.

Disappointed we didnt get to the last Tv Song Clue. i Knew Buenos Aries was 1, couldnt think of the other 2. ended up with Montevideo too. IDK why i couldnt think of Lima or Bogota. Anyone have a better option for a top box other than "Soft Kitty"? I agree that The Simpsons "Monorail Song" is a goo...

I thought it was sort of strange that all three included Ms. Borden's first name (or some variant thereof).

Re: Wednesday, April 7, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Amy got needlessly clowned on by the host for spelling slightly off (on the first name) when in that particular case I don't think it warranted a mention. After this season's Barry vs. Berry kerfuffle I'm not sure I agree. Another notorious woman who fits the timeframe would be "Typhoid" Mary Mallo...

That's a mental image I could live without.floridagator wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 6:24 pmIt couldn't have been sweltering from the climate. They had a roaring fire going in the fireplace. When FDR stroked out, he was thrust forward into the fireplace and his head was roasted like a peanut.

Re: Tuesday, April 6, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I have a feeling the writers knew the specific quote would be somewhat misleading and wanted the contestants to have to make that leap. I think it's fair, just a little devious. I feel it would only be fair if what they were quoting was good English. I don't think it is. I think it may be misleadin...

Re: Tuesday, April 6, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
What came to mind for me was the fact that the first U.S. president who was born in a hospital was Jimmy Carter. Was this FJ trying to lead us to a 20th century President who was actually born in a cabin? I know that wouldn't make sense in the context of making decisions as president, but without re...

I felt like Rodgers was a little stiff in the intro and interviews, but I think he did a pretty good job during game play.
No clue on FJ. I put down (James) Lipton just to have something. Like Opus I also considered Phil Donahue, but it was my pre-call rather than during the 30 seconds.

For those who don't know about them, tepuis (whence the source of Angel Falls) are one of the coolest geographic formations on Earth. It's worth reading up on them. Among other things, they inspired Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World" and was the location for Pixar's movie "Up". Interesting. I kn...

:( :( :(    I guessed Farrah Fawcett instead of Cameron Diaz, but my mind was thinking she must have died well before 2014 (and, of course, they wouldn't have needed the "as of 2021" qualifier). There's no way I'd think of the newer "Charlie's Angels" f...

Huh, I didn't really like his intonation at all. I gave him a five. He wasn't terrible, just not good.
