Read Ethan Frome in high school, which is far too many years ago to remember anything about it.
I find all these novels that are titled with old-timey names difficult to differentiate. Silas Marner, Ethan Frome, Elmer Gantry, etc.

Re: Friday, February 16, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I really liked Vinay but generally I always have to root for a boardie. We've had a number of very likeable contestants this week; Rob has been fun to root for but it's unfortunate that for some to win, others have to lose. Vinay seemed to have a grin that reminded me very much of Andy Kaufman -- m...

If you don't know what a perambulator is then this is literally impossible.
Really? I thought that was the least useful part of the entire clue.

Interesting to me so many here seem to have gone right to "Neverland" rather than "Wonderland." Seemed like a coin toss to me and I picked wrong.

far and away the easiest final of the week, surprised it wasn't a triget.
Just because you knew it doesn't make it easy and I'm sure the poll will bear that out.

In retrospect "20th Century Books" pointed to it being non-fiction, but that didn't dawn on me till the reveal.

I beg to differ. Any number of other clues (including still images or moving images) falling under that category could have been used instead of the particular scene from the film "Working Girl." Using the image that the writers selected was uncalled for and insensitive. Jasper Not a New Yorker, bu...

I agree about both "The Bone Clocks" (just too out there) and "...Jacob de Zoet." Another one I really liked is "Black Swan Green."

Requesting a poll option on how many got "Riverworld" for the $2000 clue in the "More than One Life to Live" category. Philip Jose Farmer is one of my absolute favorite writers and that is his most famous work, but when I saw that clue, I was 99% certain it would be a LT, and I would expect very fe...

I'm with the champ in a way. You can't believe how much people struggle with "Peacock".
I'm guessing you've uttered the phrase "it's spelled like the bird" a few times.

As is standard for me with literature, the FJ clue led me nowhere. Hemmingway was the only author I could think of that might be from that time frame. I'll join TPH with a NHO on this one.
Hold on, now. I don't think TPH said he's never heard of Jack Kerouac.
