Re: This just in! New season of Millionaire (2018) seeks contestants

They are taping a 2nd chance week on 8/21...but didn't ask me :( That's definitely a sore spot for me. After the first season of prime time shows they held a ToC, immediately after my second season appearance was told by the producer I would be called for the 2nd season ToC. To my knowledge they ne...

Re: Thursday, July 12, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I have no problem with Wes's wager. He can't win if second place makes what we would generally consider to be the optimal wager. So he can either hope second bets all/most of their money and bet less than $4800 to stay ahead of first on a miss, or he can bet it all and hope 2nd bets at least $1600....

Re: Thursday, July 12, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Those wagers...woof. Not sure why I bothered calculating their optimal wagers, when I was pretty sure they'd just bet it all or close to it. Didn't see Michelle's wager coming though. If she hated the category, why bet anything, let alone enough to fall behind a double up by Wes (who shouldn't have...

Re: Monday, July 9, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

A 599 wager from Lauren would have made Wes' wager not so savvy, eh? Wes couldn't have it both ways, so he should have bet 7599 if he felt confident with the category. With U.S. Presidents, I'm takin' that gamble every time. Jeopardy contestants are not savvy poker players, there is almost never fi...

Quick solve on the final. Going through the different VPs who took over took me quickly to Truman who took over super early in FDR's fourth term. 1/1 (Teddy's time in office was only 3 months shy of Truman's!) 8-) Always nice to see a savvy wager win a game for a player where most in that position ...

Re: How does one study for Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

Dumb question, but hypothetically speaking, what is a current year entertainment almanac? I was at the library for hypothetical reasons and hypothetically couldn't find anything that wasn't a really boring list. This is what I inhaled before appearing on WWTBAM. https://www.amazon.com/PEOPLE-Entert...

Re: How does one study for Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

So... hypothetically speaking. If you have roughly a week and a half before a hypothetical taping of this game show, what would you concentrate your studies on? I'm going over lists of Presidents, lists of states and their capitals, working through countries and their capitals, and the periodic tab...

Re: Tuesday, July 3, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Remind me which episodes you were on? The episode(s) where you had zero trouble with what most agree is BY FAR the most challenging/stressful moment of the entire contestant experience? I am lucky enough to have been on that stage, and I vividly recall the stress of 5-digit arithmetic plus the pres...

Was very happy to see Liz's wager after the silly $50 hold back. But it didn't matter.

But most here knew both weren't going to wager everything or nothing. Or even $1401.

Re: Tuesday, July 3, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Another difficult Final Jeopardy! correct for me. As hard as I try, I just can't let this comment go. How do you define difficult? The fact that a whopping three people on stage didn't come up with it? The fact that some boardies say they missed it? It's certainly subjective, but I don't think this...

I wasn't aware that Mozart died of poisoning, but Vienna + 1791 (thanks, Falco) = Mozart. They rarely if ever play the Falco version that has that verse in it, which is sad. Luckily I still have it on cassette tape :o not to mention burned forever into my memory from constant playing as a kid. And ...

Re: Tuesday, June 26, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I liked Andrew's DD wager. He was below Kelly's MSBIW so he needed to go big. A bet of $2,200 puts him with less than half of Jeff's score, so going all in was his only option. You don't have to be within half of the leader's score if they have to wager against another player, which was the case he...

This boardie just *might* have known FJ having been there more than once. I highly recommend it.

So let's see, something positive about today's wagers...... they were better than yesterday's.

Re: Tuesday, June 26, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

This is going to be one of those episodes where the contestants just aren't going to show up here. If contestants don't know world capitals they don't deserve to win. Although in the heat of the moment I could see someone answering Senegal. Actually none of the contestants wagered well as And...

There is no way that I would have ever gotten that FJ within 30 seconds.
Everybody here answers this clue correctly at least 2% of the time. :D

Sara Nies: 5200+5200=10400
Erik Johnson: 8400+6000=14400
Obviously the $6k FJ wager is very sub-optimal. And in my opinion, Sara has one excellent option for a wager.

Re: Thursday, June 14, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I've said it before and gotten laughed at, but there are certain instances against certain player types that if you truly play to win you wager everything from second place. Even if it means risking an extra $1k. The leader showed yesterday she couldn't do basic math. Sometimes Hail Mary's succeed. ...

Hi J-Boarders. This is my first time posting (long time lurker), but I felt compelled to defend my honour (such as it is)! Here is how it went. In the few minutes that I had to come up with my wager, I actually tried to run through all possible scenarios in my mind (while attempting to do the math ...
