Re: It's happening!!! The GOAT Tourney, w/ Brad + Ken + James

Just had a thought I don’t like. Since this hasn’t taped yet, is this going to be Alex’s goodbye, and will close the book on the Trebek era along with the players it contains (other than next TOC eligible)? Sadly, I think this will indeed be the case. Let's face it, we all know Alex has been having...

Re: Tuesday, November 12, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Not a fan of the clue either. But I tend to think the pin is Forbes, obviously an economic publication. The Bible Belt has little to do with economics while both the Sun and Rust Belts do with their opposite economic status, workers vs. retirees. Or however one wants to imagine it. FYI, the game rec...

Re: Monday, November 4, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Kudos on the FJ wagers. Shouldn't Gilbert have gone all-in on his wager to maximize his WC chances in the event that Anneke responded correctly to the FJ and wagered enough to win outright? It's not like he would have any chance of advancing if he missed FJ and ended up with $1,199. Also, I'm not s...

Re: Monday, November 4, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Did anyone else think there were a ton of stand and stares on basic Jeopardy information especially for ToC contestants? Hamburger Hill for one. So if you have the lead going into FJ with $250k on the line, are you really going to waste valuable brain power and time writing out a joke answer on a cl...

Re: J-archive spoilers

This thread has turned completely asinine, and it's insulting to the archivists who spend countless hours ensuring both the current games as well as games from early seasons get put in. There is absolutely no reason for some silly safeguard to be put on the archive so a few people don't get spoiled ...

The chained maiden worth $2k and a TS? Watch the original Clash of the Titans and you'll never forget her name. Or her face and other features.   Dave made a weak wager on DD3 on a 3rd row clue and it left him short of the lead going into FJ. And then he made the opposite error on...

Re: J-archive spoilers

C'mon archivists, use some common sense. Do not post the game until everybody has the opportunity to watch it on their local station. Including Hawaii and Alaska. Check the local TV listings to ensure the latest air time. Of course you also must pay attention to pre-emptions. On all local networks. ...

Re: Monday, October 28, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Diana's DJ DD summarizes several things that drive me bonkers while watching the show. 1, finds a 2nd row DD, an tremendous opportunity, and wagers $1200. 2, doesn't give any thought at all of her answer, answers as though she's still racing the other contestants. Double-checking DD's is something t...

Re: FJs for the 10/21/19 week

I have attended a Pro Bowl in Hawaii. Won a trip for two including four nights hotel and airfare playing a NTN/Buzztime game, they put us up at a great beachfront hotel. From the concourse of the stadium you could easily see the ocean. The game wasn't that bad, it's football. Although it does suck t...

I would definitely put Lindsey Berns, along with Kaya Chua, Rene Bender, Becca Arm, Julia Kite, Kerri Griffith, Kim Taylor, and E. A. Srere as one of the best female J! non-winners. E.A. Srere was a trivia teammate of mine for several years, both a great trivia player and person. She is very matter...

Re: Wednesday, October 9, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

There's -some- rationale for a leader betting more than "cover second place by $1" . Not much, but some. Maybe the scores entering FJ! are really low - say, $3000 vs $1600, with third place dropping out. If you have a category where you're very proficient (or where your opponent is proficient), why...

Re: Wednesday, October 9, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

There was zero rationale for Emily's FJ wager other than covering. She probably knew she needed to cover a double up from 2nd and then wagered some random round number that accomplished that. In the leader's position, you wager to win by $1 to a 2nd place double up. Each dollar extra wagered reduces...

Re: Monday, September 30, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

While it's impossible to know if Laurel would have wagered differently on the last DD, one could argue that Jason cost himself the game by leaving that $1600 on the table on his DD.

And good for Jennifer for not making the typical suicide wager from third in her position.

Re: Gameplay Strategies

Some important clarifications. Be careful guessing on clues that you don't know. Avoid ringing in and answering incorrectly. If you never give a wrong answer you aren't ringing in enough. I think people on this forum are pretty mixed about whether or not to hunt for daily doubles. Some people are di...

Re: Thursday, September 26, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Like Christine, I, too, said the other major world building that opened in 1973. World Landmarks means (in Jeopardy speak) outside the U.S., so that answer doesn't fit the category. It was frustrating watching both challengers not truly understanding how to win this game. Christine's had a chance t...

BIBLICAL ANYTHING is a FJ category where my wager is ZERO no matter what the scores tell me to do
You are 2nd place with $15,000, leader $30,000, third $1,000.

Re: Thursday, July 25, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Well, I guess we had to see it one more time before season's end: a dumbass all-in wager from third place loses a game she could have won. And surely you know an all-in bet from the leader is never, ever gonna happen. If you are in 2nd place in this game, what would you wager? Then perhaps re-think...

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

I felt like in the mock game that I either didn’t have my timing down or the other two players were that good (probably a little of both) as there were plenty of times I could have sworn I was in first but wasn’t. I mean, I know it was practice and all, but still, I wanted to ring in first. :D In t...
