Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

I'll never understand why a contestant like Karen with a strong +1 like Jeff ($100,000 winner) would waste her 50/50 before calling him down from the audience. (Maria Von Trapp or Tippi Hedren in West Side Story? Really?) Jeff knew it right away, and she could've saved her 50/50 for an even-money s...

Re: What Determines For Whom You Root on Jeopardy?

I tend to pull for defending champs just for constancy, unless they happen to be one of those who jumps all over the board from one category to another. That annoys me more than anything else, because it is difficult to follow at home when we can't see the full category on our screens. Hence a cate...

Re: Monday, October 1, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

More to the point, a giveaway that it was not "Madame Bovary," the only other plausible candidate...since we knew from the category that it wasn't going to be English-language. HUH? Isn't the US still part of the world? Isn't American literature a subset of World Lit? Or is there some unspoken rule...

Re: Monday, October 1, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

"I'm a twin, but dizygotic or monozygotic, also known as this type." (with "fraternal" ruled incorrect and "identical" given as the expected response) Perhaps the clue was intended to read " not dizygotic but monozygotic"? After seeing it, I'm betting the clue was written accurately and the pretty ...

Re: Monday, October 1, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I would have taken “World Literature” as a clue that the answer is probably not a British or American novel. "Long" was a dead giveaway it was Russian. Good job reading between the lines! Like the small bet from first (hey, if you hate the category, put the game on 2nd getting it right if possible)...

Re: Monday, September 24, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

In the first round, with a full category left and the DD uncovered, they went straight to the top of the board. In DD, William seemed to go DD hunting and was immediately successful. Then, to his credit, made it a TDD and was successful. But for some reason, he continued on in that category even tho...

Re: Friday, September 21, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Isn't every country in Europe and Asia Eurasian? I know I wasn't certainly thinking that. Sure. But why would the writers feel the need to use that particular adjective? Would they really use it if the response was Spain or Bhutan? I tend to think not. Exactly. As we all know, there are hints hidde...

How many Eurasian countries can you name?

And please take the Bhutan discussion to the appropriate thread. Thanks.

Bravo on Emily for her FJ wager.
Absolutely. Nice wager.

Raymond on the other hand chose to forfeit any chance of winning.

Re: Monday, September 17, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

DD2, you're getting your ass kicked, lucky enough to find a middle row DD, and you meekly wager $1k? Less than the value of the clue? Frustrating to watch. DD3, you're getting your ass kicked, really lucky to find a 2nd row DD, and you wager it all to give yourself a chance! Nicely done! In the end,...

Re: Tuesday, September 11, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I get the short DD3 wager - it was enough to make Lori have to attempt both bottom row clues sight unseen and if he'd missed, he would only need one of them. The long odds went against him. If he misses, she only needs to answer one clue correct to have the lead. He can answer one and still be behi...

Is there any reason not to take Roger? I consider him a better player than four of the captains and he's proven he knows how to prepare.

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

I have officially converted my longtime girlfriend to properly assessing game show strategy. When he used ATA on the Time Person of the Year question she immediately exclaimed, "YOU DON'T USE THE AUDIENCE ON A QUESTION LIKE THAT!?!?!?". I was so proud. Was a neat scene when his Dad recited the alpha...

Re: Jeopardy All-Star Games

It seems to me that having the weakest player on a team play the J! round would be the best strategy, but I am not so sure about the other 2 players. The strategizing will at least be interesting. At first glance, I'd think the weakest player would play FJ. It's only one question and therefore subj...

Re: Jeopardy All-Star Games

I'll watch, but I think TPTB are trying way to hard with this. And in the end, it just means that there are now 20 less spots for contestants up for grabs this year.

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

not only this, but they are asking close to 400 people to travel on the schedule of the show each year. If they were so accommodating to one, they would have to be to everyone, and then scheduling would just be impossible as not everyone can just take time off work whenever, or other stuff they wan...
