Re: Thursday, March 14, 2024 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Same. I figured it had to be the southern hemisphere, but couldn't think of which Secretary it would be. Certainly something worth studying a bit as there have only been nine. Sec-Gens should definitely be on your short list study guide if you get the call. Wholeheartedly agree with the study list....

The first 11 clues in the J! round were lost due to severe weather coverage in the DFW area.

Jeopardy! Needs to Cool It With the Tournaments
I particularly liked two things about it.

1, referring to Chuck Forrest as the original disruptor.
2, calling the tournaments the contestant recycling center. Great term.

Re: 2024 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament

Victoria and Brandon would be no-questions-asked invites even without the "televised" part. I'm just saying that if they decide to open it up a bit wider, so am I, and so is at least one other person who's posted in this thread. While people might think that's arrogant of me to say, and i...

Re: Monday, March 11, 2024 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Tough FJ! clue that almost favored the trailing person as Luigi was a clue away from winning as a closer score would have changed his wager. Well, should have changed his wager. In regular play Luigi was a perfect 2 for 2 making the suicide wager from a close second, had he gotten the extra clue he...

Re: Friday, March 8, 2024 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Before this episode the 92nd Street Y had exactly one archive hit and that was merely in passing and revealing nothing about it’s true purpose. I know you didn't mean it, but this is the most sinister-sounding thing said yet. It's a Y that holds public events! Ah, I shouldn’t have taken that for gr...

Honestly, I had no idea what the category referred to other than something in NYC. I do now so I learned something and that’s good. That being said, at game speed all 5 clues were basic Jeopardy fodder and easy gets. Before this episode the 92nd Street Y had exactly one archive hit and that was mere...

It's crazy, but the celebrity champ was one basic FJ wager away from the ToC finals. He did surprisingly well, good for him.

Re: J! in the Media

Part of me wonders if there is a hidden motive at work here - money. The flood of recent superchamps strained the show's budget in a way producers had not often had to deal with in previous seasons. Holding a large number of tournaments over the course of months could have been seen as a way to gua...

We have established that it does include rebound attempts because there have been box scores with buzz attempts over the maximum in a round.

I am wondering who is approving of these interviews because usually they were not allowed some of the stuff that really do not fit the spirit of jeopardy. I certainly think so. After all, for many years we have loved things from the archive like R and W, Coryat, etc. This has more information.

Re: Fun with Fox's "The Floor"

No real surprise as to the ending, we all knew it was pretty much a crapshoot from the get go. It's an interesting concept and the average viewer will probably like it because everybody has a chance. Something I hadn't considered was that the episodes were obviously not shot in one day, and this giv...

I thought the vast majority of that article was, to put it in industry terms, dead on balls accurate. But, it is certainly within one's rights to pass on an interview where you don't agree with the premise. What I will find interesting is that once regular games start, if the average number of posts...

Assuming standard ToC material, with the bigger field I fear we’re going to see some buzz in attempts in the 20’s.

I thought it to be a weak clue as well. On first reading I thought it was Hillary, but at last check Hillary is not a he. So then if it's not her then they're looking for Gore. How do you figure? If you think Hillary is eligible at all and you've eliminated not-Trump , then the next response is Rom...

Re: Tuesday, February 20, 2024 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The FJ! clue had me fail with the same name Alex wrote. In my head I was thinking concede and not grasping how "officially" the wording meant. It was a very bad clue, you kind of had to read the minds of the writers to get this one. Colloquially most would consider delivering a concession...
