Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020
Was anyone else given credit for "Crystal" on the Riedel question? I was happy to see Thorston's leniency for that answer.

Wow. That was a lot of fun. Go team Ken! (But everyone was impressive.) Most fun I've had watching in a long time.
Ken had a whole episode of his podcast on Patrick Nagel, so that was a lot of fun to see pop up.

I lost the coin toss between hurling and Gaelic Football.
I also overthought the Shakespeare question and wrote Kate and Petruccio.

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague
I thought it was cruel requiring both Mbeki AND Zuma. Very un-Thorsten-like. Funny thing: I was sure I'd be wrong on that one because I thought Zuma came immediately after Mbeki, but those were the only two I could name, so I put them down. Pleasant surprise! But yes, odd imbalance with asking only...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague
I enjoyed the Art ML a lot. I came third with 49 TCA, which seemed like a fair result for me. (There is no shame in losing to DhuwaliaR.) For me, this is now the second MiniLeague in which a player has forfeited the first 6 or more games, then joined shortly before playing me. If you're going to mis...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague
A pretty typical season for me. I had the second highest CAA in A Midland, so it's not surprising that I'll be relegated this time around. I had mixed reactions about this article. It initially made me laugh, but then I really don't like the idea of publicly shaming people for how they do in trivia ...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague
If the question had simply asked who mentored the Velvet Underground, I would have answered Andy Warhol without hesitation. It's one of the only things I know about the group. Asking about Drella threw me off entirely, which I guess shows how little I know about them beyond a pub quiz level.

Sister Wendy Beckett, the Carmelite nun and the tv 'personality' who introduced me to art history, has died at 88.

Re: LL79: For the LLamas
My worst TCA ever and 11 ties meant that I was scraping the bottom of A midland most of the season. A victory in the last match lifted me out of the relegation zone, but it doesn't feel as if my play this season warranted it. I don't know if it was the distraction of a new job or that the questions ...

I went with boules, which I assumed was French bocce. I'm not sure I would have ever landed on fencing.

Re: LearnedLeague 78 - Official Thread
I think that there were three A Rundle winners in my last group, so humility is a lesson deeply ingrained by this point. I'll join up. It currently stands at an odd number (5), so it may be that I am ejected into private Rundle limbo.

Re: LearnedLeague 78 - Official Thread
I actually remembered to create the private rundle with time to spare! Rundle Name: Rundle in the Jundle 8 Registration Code: readytorundle Thanks! Is there room in the private rundle for new players? I've been in a different one for a year, but they've lost a lot of members recently and aren't ver...
