Re: Fun with ABC's "The Chase" [Spoilers]

Not accepting “fed” for “federal reserve”? I guess since the question was cut off there may have been a reason for this, but cmon judges. They didn't accept "Fed chairs", which they should not have. If she had just said "the Fed", I think she'd have been OK. The full question probably wanted the or...

BTW, Note Dame was last a correct FJ response in June of last year, under the same category name. Not that folks should remember that, but it's too soon to be used again.
You saying that doesn't necessarily make it true.

Re: Wednesday, March 3, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I admit I wasn't quite convinced that I knew what the clue was getting at, and I worried that the Pyramid was from the '70s, but I thought Louvre was a good guess (though Notre Dame revealed gave me a shiver of doubt). I feel a little redeemed from yesterday, when I had the right response and threw...

I also had the quick brown fox jumpS instead of jumpED. A quick check on my keyboard showed I was wrong. Mavis Beacon never had me type that, IIRC.
Not sure if you typed wrong or remembered wrong but jumps is correct. You need the S while the word dog takes care of the D.

I considered Indonesia but figured it was probably going to be in the Arctic, either Canada, Russia, or something Scandinavian. Unfortunately because of fjords I guessed Norway over Sweden.

And how the hell was this obscure-ass clue a triple get? I'm not going to tell you and I hope no one else does. Figure it out for yourself. Try Mark's link above for your first hint. Ken was kind enough to explain the correct country during the reveal portion of FJ. Now you expect him to listen to ...

Re: Fun with ABC's "The Chase" [Spoilers]

I like that Jeopardy! gives the response after reading the clue. The Chase also does, but sometimes it doesn't. Yes this seems like it should be a fundamental rule of a quiz show, if you ask a question, you need to give the answer. Even if time runs out and we only hear half of a question, say the ...

No guess on FJ!
How could you have no guess? There is no penalty for guessing in FJ and the clue told you to name a country. Any country would be a better guess than "no guess".

Re: Thursday, February 18, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I always thought the whole point of having tough Jeopardy tests was to keep people who only know to make wags off the program. This seems like a fundamental misunderstanding of the Jeopardy! test. First of all it's not that tough, and second of all you get to take a free guess at all 50 clues on th...

Was not aware figure was such a literal descriptor prior to the 90s for figure skating. Closest I managed to get was trying to add/remove a word from 'ice dancing.' I can safely say I have never seen skating of figures. Edit: and apparently skating of figures wasn't televised anyway because it was ...

You want BOTH names?!??!! And to properly enough spell both names within 30 seconds. Jeopardy might ask to write adrenaline in FJ but they will never ask to write epinephrine. Neither appear as an answer to FJ in the archive. I don't see epinephrine as being notably harder to spell than adrenaline,...

Re: Monday, February 8, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The FJ! clue had me stumped. I ruled out Poe's "Rue Morgue" as a sucker's play and had no inspiration for anything connected to Jack the Ripper. OK, what exactly makes that a "sucker's play" or a rule-out? (Apart from the years of publication, which would be awfully hard to have at hand: the clue s...
