Re: Friday, March 5, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Discogs style is to capitalize the first letter of all words, period -- they're not an authority on what the capitalization "should" be. Discogs style is copying that of the major record labels from the 1960s and 1970s. Any authoritative style manual would say to capitalize only the important words...

This one hinges on how many "optimistic 80s anthems" you can bring to mind in 30 seconds. I got there pretty quick, but under the lights it could be a-whole-nother story. The other two albums are: Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon That is not a greatest hits album. Did he say it was? That portion ...

I thought Final Jeopardy was defensible, and I am impressed that the Challenger played to a tie after how inauspicious his beginning to the game was. I guessed Notre Dame. I knew the cathedral was older than the 1500s, as a result of the fire two years ago. It seems like principal architect is someo...

I was cheering for Jillian. She got severely outplayed. I can't think of the name of a single head of the FAA.* I was thinking the clue was negbait for Allen's brother John Foster Dulles, Secretary of State in those same years. However, the clue specifically referred to this government agency . That...

I don't typically remember past champions but Andrew reminded me of Bruce Simmons, who was a champion I believe when they still had a five-game limit and made a horrific blunder in the finals of the Tournament of Champions. An easy final always favors the contestant who is in the lead. I couldn't be...

TV clues have gotten unfair because the TV landscape has become so segmented. There are too many outlets and too many series to keep track of them.
In the old days, there were only three networks, and there would only ever be trivia questions about the biggest hits and longest-running series.

I spotted gnu right away in the clue. Then I watched as David died slowly. I answered Taps right away and then counted the notes in my head to make sure. Terrible clue: it goes from Duluth to Ontario to Sault Sainte Marie. Duluth and Soo are cities; Ontario is a province, and it contains most of the...

Sam swept the DDs for +9000 and was nowhere near a lock thanks to Alan playing so well without the benefit of any DDs.

I got William Jennings Bryan after briefly toying with Franklin Pierce. But the TOM for me was that the clue mentioned "first campaign," meaning it was somebody who ran more than once. And I knew it was a loser, because we've never had a president who was that young. Pierce ran only once; Bryan ran ...
