How long were the "broadcast runs" for Julia Collins, David Madden, et al?

In my mind for some reason, I recall Julia or David (or someone else) being on the air for months, not weeks, due to the fact that they were interrupted by multiple tournaments or other special weeks. So, aside from Ken, who has the longest span of real time from "first episode aired" to "final epis...

I don't think I'm wrong stating that James would have lost if he hadn't found that Jeopardy round Daily Double.
Explain?

Re: Should there be a shoutouts box in FJ?

I think the only correct thing to do is exactly what the producers did. For 35 years, you had an occasional shout-out which was cool and fun every now and then. James was like the "this is why we can't have nice things" guy. He overplayed it and reached a paradoxical point where 1) his shout outs we...

Re: Friday, April 26, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I wonder just how many stations will pre-empt Jeopardy! for the NFL Draft. WABC in New York did. Ugh. I'm like an addict without my fix. And the usual "smuggler" has been prevented by Sony from uploading episodes to his usual cache. <<sweating and shaking >>. Does anyone in NYC area k-k-know...

Re: Friday, April 19, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Also of note: James is now #3 on the all-time money list. Only Brad and Ken have won more. That's from Jeopardy careers that span 15-19 years. James? Less than three weeks.

Re: Friday, April 19, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

So according to the Internet, Alex Trebek earns around $42,500 per episode of Jeopardy. ($10 million per year. 235 episodes per year). James is averaging more than $70,000 per episode. The "Internet" (which apparently didn't consult the Archive) is definitely wrong about the number of games per sea...

Re: Thursday, April 18, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I may be crazy but I seem to remember there being a category or two over the years that did actually force the contestants to go from top to bottom. Like the way the clues were presented, you had to go through them in order. And Alex specifically noted that on the category reveal. Though for the lif...

Re: Thursday, April 18, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

What world do we live in where an 11-day champion winning $74,000 actually seems anticlimactic?

I'm kind of worried that James is ruining my expectations forever.

At this point, where does James stand on the all-time money list? Like, including tournament wins etc.

Brad Rutter: $4+ million
Ken Jennings: $3+ million
...
James Holzhauer: $697,000

Re: Wednesday, April 17, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I know we just had a supertourney; but I wonder at what point TPTB might decide that as was the case with Ken, it would be a letdown to place James in a "mere" TOC, as the viewing public would like to see how he would fare against the other immortals. I think here is where number of victories is ac...

Re: Friday, March 1, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I think this may be the most interesting two-game match ever. With Team Buzzy at $0 coming from behind and almost guaranteeing a victory, and the Final Jeopardy drama where Team Austin **just barely** had enough to win if and only if they wagered everything on the second day. And culminating in a FJ...

For whatever reason, I've always liked the name Little Rock (even though I've never been there) so it's a top-5 default for me whenever state capitals come up. A rare instaget for me though I do wonder if I would have gotten it without the "small" clue

M painters and no Monet or Manet? Coupled with yesterday's Waldenless Thoreau category.. interesting stuff from writers.
FYI, the writers did inclue Walden in that category but it was in the hidden "sixth" clue (accessed via the J!6 game online)

Re: Tuesday, July 11, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Wait so if they had accepted Scott's answer in Shaka the first time around (instead of correcting before FJ, but also after Kelly was able to pick up money for the same clue), he would have had a runaway and won.

Talk about an unfortunate turn of events...
