Re: J! in the Media

I would have gone with Garfield. It's supposed to be "100 people surveyed", right? The board totals only 66. Is there a threshold of 3 or something like that before a response is included? This happens often in round 3 after one family takes the first two rounds. The producers limit the available p...

I was in the group of simpletons who had Wounded Knee. Cavalry to battle was my thinking and 1889 was too late for Little Big Horn. Yes, the hint was there and yes the year should have helped. There is a reason I'm in C and I get to prove on a regular basis including my whopping 1 correct fo...

I have an econ degree and don't remember ever hearing the name David Ricardo. The 6% on grisaille I can believe, but I'm skeptical of 14% knowing Ricardo (especially with almost double that on the MCWA (among them, mine)). But my opponent thought I would, so I did manage to take down my rundle's le...

Re: LearnedLeague 77 - Official Thread

Thank you, everyone! I'm excited to represent Magnolia in next year's championship! I've gotta be the poster boy for how much relies on factors other than pure knowledge. In LL75, for example, I had the same TCA (112) and a higher DE (.788 v .747) yet finished in 17th. My runner-up this season had 1...

Re: Thursday, April 19, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I sure hope I’m not the only person who said “Mormon Tabernacle” It was the first thing I thought of, but it seemed like more of a Utah Historical Site than a US Historical Site, if that makes sense. Then I realized the significance of the folded flag and switched to the correct response. I've been...

I don't know how I remember this, but I knew it was not Trouble, because of a commercial that goes something like: Popomatic, pop the dice Pop the six and you move twice Race your men around the track and try to send the others back. Trouble, trouble that's the name of Koner's popomatic game. Every...

It looks like The Q is making a big change: players who have been eliminated can continue answering questions, their performance will be logged over the course of each month, and those with the best records at the end of the month will earn cash prizes. Re: Ties on Jeopardy! RIP

I'd be happy to split the money every time so long as I get to return the next day. But a player in the Pool – or waiting in the wings on tape day – will probably have a different opinion, as will the production staff when they have to fly back several players thanks to 2-3 ties per week.

Re: Millionaire 2017-18 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

I watch way too much TV and always have, so I actually remember those Ed Koch seasons. Meh. Not as bad as the Jerry Sheindlin season. I also watch way too many Marvel movies (like, all of them  ), so while I've never heard of the speechwriter, I knew the director cold. Mildly surprised the au...
