Re: Tuesday, April 7, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Maybe the reason Jan wasn't negged for Nat & Natalie King Cole was because she wrote King directly under Nat, so if you read it top-to-bottom, then left-to-right, you could plausibly arrive at Nat King & Natalie Cole?

Don't think so; Cindy's Tom Stoppard clue was a DD and is marked in the Archive as such.

Re: Monday, March 2, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

...it looks like a variation on this clue appeared as a final in 2005 - given the first line, contestants had to respond with the book, not the author. Only 1/2 got it right then, though HST had died earlier that year. Good find. I hope it doesn't take some of the wind out of your sail to note Aust...

Re: Monday, March 2, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I had Tom Wolfe for final and switched to Kesey because I thought the judges wouldn't want the hassle of determining if Wolfe, Woolf, or Thomas Wolfe was acceptable. Searched the archive so I could learn more about this Hunter S. Thompson fellow, and it looks like a variation on this clue appeared a...

Re: Monday, November 17, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

For Fiction-Ales, did any other Harry Potter nerds say Firewhiskey instead of Butterbeer? I don't think you would get carded for Butterbeer in the HP world - it's the drink of choice for all the Hogwarts kids when they go into the village. Whiskey's not an ale! (But yeah, Harry wouldn't get carded ...

Re: TD 214: Ladies of Shakespeare Know Who I Am

Thanks for an awesome game, and for reconsidering my answer to Question 7. I love any questions based on the Bard. I would love to visit the new Globe. It hadn't been built the last time I visited London - ages ago. No, thank YOU for dealing with it so graciously. Sorry you had to be the guinea pig...
