Re: Monday, June 22, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

How many of the 5 days champs have done all of their 5 days on the same recording day? It seems like Monday is a good day to knock out long running champs. Shocked at that ending ... he should have won, she should have won, but instead they both handed it off to the other guy. Ah well, at least the...

Re: Tuesday, June 23, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Tough game to watch. Definitely upheld the "giant slayer is a one-and-done" rule, as it was a struggle for Sascha pretty much from start to finish. (Something tells me he'd have had a decent shot at a lone FJ get, so if he had pulled H1N1 maybe he isn't a one-and-done champ.) Dunno if a 5-timer quit...

Re: Friday, June 12, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Coryat $22,800. Almost precalled FJ, in the sense of, "well, boat with worst reputation in recent history? I got one." Possibly there are other boats I should have been thinking if but I wasn't. Concordia. Need to look that up. In any case, doing great Champ. Congratulations! As a viewer I never lo...

Re: Thursday, May 28, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Knowing the sequels Little Men and Jo's Boys existed threw me a bit, but thankfully I just couldn't come up with a better answer than LW. Same here. I couldn't talk myself out of it despite the same knowledge, which I figured was incomplete because 19th C. literature isn't a major strength of mine....

Re: Thursday, May 28, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Vermonter may make medical history. He might be the first person to ever suffer two separate brain aneurisms in three days. I haven't done all of the calcs, but just off the top of my head, Ivan's wager looked much more foolish than Dan's. Dan has to wager at least $11,401 to secure the win with a ...

Re: Tuesday, May 26, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

His friends and loved ones call it a "bold wager" that made him a lot of extra money. Folks hereabouts who think about wagering strategically say it was a truly bad wager that happened to work out for him this time. His viewing party at home likely have no idea that, in the event he had missed that...

Re: Wednesday, May 27, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

My first thought was Brown (CA) and Brewer (AZ) - contiguous states and close alphabetically - so I didn't look any further. I doubt I would have thought of Christie and Cuomo even without that side step, not in 30 seconds anyway, though who knows. It had to be a couple of pretty prominent governor...

Re: Friday, May 8, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I liked this Final Jeopardy, because it wasn't an instaget for me, but I ended up getting it in about 20 seconds. I had to eliminate most of the answers in this thread first before figuring it out, though. Didn't get there fast enough. I think if this is Learned League and I have all day I get it. ...

Re: Thursday, May 7, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Instaget FJ; they seemed to have really selected away from players who know sports this season. Perhaps because the players who know sports are playing Sports Jeopardy! I recalled the news story of the new mascot. The Clark connection hit me later. Could be, but there's a whole scary batch of sport...

Re: Thursday, May 7, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Oh, hey, another triple stumper FJ about the Cubs that I got right. . That time, it was simply the luck of having the knowledge the clue required. Here, it was naming the first hundred-year-old pro sports team I could and deciding that it fit the clue. There was also a FJ from a year or so back, wh...

Re: Celebrity Jeopardy?

I'd prefer another week of reruns to the celebrity crap. I hope they have five shows where none of them make FJ. Oh, wait, they still get to play FJ even though the dumbasses don't deserve it because they give them money so we get to see their stupid faces for another segment. They let children run...

Re: Thursday, May 7, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Assuming that Scott meant his comment that he would also be in the TOC - which is unclear, but assuming he had - he's guilty of "arrogance" (hubris, even) to some. Which one never expects to see in any kind of competition, apparently. (An equally reasonable meaning of Scott's comment, however, coul...

I don't read Twitter but I sure hope no one referred to her as a fat b***h. I think it's awesome that she played so well & she had a great attitude. It was interesting to read about the early buzzer difficulties. The questions last night seemed pretty easy but the players did well. I like this guy ...

Re: Thursday, May 7, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

For a sports fan like me, bear + over 100 years old (MLB is the only league that old) was a slam dunk. For others, yikes. If you don't make the immediate bear-->cub leap, you're probably stuck following 'Clark' down all sorts of dead ends. I'm glad Andrew didn't make the usual all-in wager, but he ...

Would they let us know if they had to throw out these test results? I'd be happy to take another test but I want to know if I need to ASAP.

I count 45. My first thought was "dingo" but I had never heard that as slang for "cowardly" so switched to "jackal" instead. Oops.

Re: Wednesday, March 18, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

My attempts to telepath "Handel" (yeah, it was taped way in advance, which is probably why it didn't work) into Kristin were futile, as I have really enjoyed her reign, especially her last two victories. I was a bit surprised to see her go down like that, with the Hearst for Hughes (wrong eccentric ...

Re: Monday, March 16, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I don't have the text of the clue in front of me, but what was the reason that "transistor" wasn't a correct response for the Daily Double? I heard "device", and my mind just didn't leap to television sets... I think if the numbers were left very vague, my "transistor" answer might have flown, but ...

Re: Tuesday, March 17, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Can we discuss how brutal that Shakespeare category was? It's not that any of the plays asked about weren't fair game as correct responses, but the clues seemed mostly kind of obscure to me. They mostly avoided the things people know about these plays. Speak for yourself. :) The Jessica name origin...

Re: Tuesday, March 17, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

As a close relation of Colin's I'd like to thank y'all for commiserating, on account of he won't sign up to do so. Best of luck to Kristin going forward! Colin did very well for himself. He played the game optimally all the way through and it appears that he had the champ out-knowledged. He sure lo...
