Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

I think the passing score was well above 35 at TN to keep numbers down. But no complaints here- they came to TN to get better players. To get on the show, be good at trivia and be good tv. That would certainly explain why people I would have expected to pass the test didn't do so. I look at it this...

If it’s ok with everyone who was there, my wife took a few pictures of our get together I could post. (Some of us already have our real picture as our board avatar anyways)
Fine with me.

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

First, does anyone think the test was harder than other tests? When I was in Columbus, while I felt the test was a little easier, I also feel it was simply a little easier for me personally as I actually knew some of my worst subject questions; so I don't believe it was actually an easier test. Thi...

Re: Trivia Nationals social

Sorry I couldn't make it; Cold in Herre had our first trash matches then. No problem. We at least got to chat a bit (very cool story about your brother). With an event like this, the odds of finding a time when all would be free is nigh unto impossible... unless we waited for the 5x5 finals

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

Nah, I just had an off day and I'm not as good at trivia as I need to be (like 4 questions behind Jeff last night - congrats! ). I missed stuff I knew, didn't know things I should, and ended up in the neighborhood of 40 right, when I should have 45+ to win a Jeopardy game. I think the passing score...

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

I failed to reach the required score for the first time in 12+ tests. Oof, that's rough. Sorry to hear that. Sorry, boson! Would you say we got the harder of the two tests they’ve been using at auditions this summer? Nah, I just had an off day and I'm not as good at trivia as I need to be (like 4 q...

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

Among the many positive experiences I had at Trivia Nationals, not the least of them was getting to meet so many boardies such as boson and cmp, but also DHK and wife, Big Daddy Matty, ElendilPickle, Fowlerism, Reddpen, Hbomb, morbeedo and even the elusive Schliemann. I hope to see many of you on th...

Trivia Nationals social

Those of you who are at Trivia Nationals, if you would like to get together tonight (Friday) at 7 in The Lounge. At least a few of us will be there!

Number of times an element has been the correct question:

Pffft. Why should I put any faith in a Periodic Table that doesn’t include Seaborgium?
Huh? I'm It's there.

Re: Trivia Nationals Prep

Thanks for doing this. As an aside, I'm thinking of organizing a Jboard social at Trivia Nationals, just a sort of "meet other boardies and have a drink or two" sort of event.

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

After MD10 of Science, I was in first place but needed to win or tie MD11 in order to make the championship. I lost 4(3)-9(6). :x However... I entered Particle Physics and, for only the second time ever, got all 12 on a one-day! Ended up finishing in the 96th percentile. Kudos on getting Pauli. I n...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I don't think there are going to be minileagues that line up better with my wheelhouse than "science through the ages". I'm proud of how well I did, but I'm truly amazed at the winners of the championship: there were 12 esoteric facts from a range of science disciplines and eras that the smiths ask...

What Hbomb said. I had a bad feeling when I saw the thread title and your post confirmed it. Good luck to you fighting this!

Welp, despite finishing STTA with two six-packs, I still finished in 3rd in my group and missed the Championship.

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

Perhaps because I am generally science-knowledgeable, i’ve found success just assigning defensive points based on my subjective perception of difficulty. In the case of ephemeris, I knew that I didn’t know it, so confidently assigned it a 3. My only deviation is on math- or history-heavy questions w...

One other category of auditions will be those of we hopefuls who go to the audition in Las Vegas on Aug 10 during Trivia Nationals. I know for a fact that morbeedo and I will be there. Yup - I'll be there too! For those of us who haven't been able to get a sniff at an audition, attending Trivia Nat...

Re: Trivia about Trivia: Obscure Record Holders

I would go further and say that there was a good chance that no one would have heard of Dan Melia at all. His first win came with him trailing Patrick Friel, no slouch himself, and requiring a sole get in FJ. Then his next two games were against Atish and he barely eked out the win after a tie the p...
