The players found a way to quickly anger a part of a state when they could not recognize the Big 10 school's fight song. Re: Learned League 84

Today I had a failure. I somehow read the question about Elizabeth II's newest great-grandchild as saying its name was the same length as hers. I thought, "Well, he's Archie, but A-R-C-H-I-B-A-L-D; E-L-I-Z-A-B-E-T-H. Both nine letters, there you go!" Same. When I saw the answer after submitting it ...

Re: Learned League 84

Glad my dad got Prodigy all those years ago. Threw that down as a random guess and got lucky. Another wild guess with Mercedes, and I pulled out the win.

Re: 2020 Current Events Discussion Thread

Hosni Mubarak, former president of Egypt, has died at the age of 91. He took power following the assassination of Anwar Sadat, and was swept out of power in the Arab Spring. Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, 91, passed away today. He was ousted during the Arab Spring in February 2011. https:...

Re: Learned League 84

The last 2 days have made my Ohio roots happy. Skyline is still a must-have whenever I visit my mom (had to make an unexpected trip last week, and had the 3-way mentioned in the Q), and I've been to dozens of Reds games in my life. Easy points for me!

Re: Learned League 84

I'm in C Prairie.....a 38 person rundle. That one may come down to luck of the draw, considering each person will miss 13 players (including themselves). That's more than 1/3 of the rundle!

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), January 30, 2020

Missed Aristotle (one day I'll be able to remember the order of the 3, Just remember SPA -- which I knew, and then promptly forgot. Yeah, I accidentally screwed up the mnemonic in my head forever ago as PSA, and can't undo the damage--now even though I sometimes remember that's wrong, I usually sti...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), January 30, 2020

Looks like between 44-46 for me. Depends on if they count 'Shallows' and just 'Gregory.' Missed Aristotle (one day I'll be able to remember the order of the 3, but that day is apparently not today--it's one of those things I should know but always second guess myself on), Elena Ferrante (I just saw ...

44 off the video. Taking it for real tonight (and hoping I can stay awake and alert the whole time--fell asleep at 9:00 Tuesday & 10:15 last night. Test starts at 10 tonight my time, so yikes).

WORLD GEOGRAPHY Since 1993, it has been the world's most populous landlocked country. What is Ethiopia? This was a LL question back in LL75. Not that it makes the FJ! any less quality, just making note of it. IntegrityT wrote: As a result of a 1993 independence referendum that finished with 99.83% ...

Re: LL83: Learned League

After starting the season 5-2-2, I finished a rousing 2-10-4. Every single match where I got 4 or 5 correct in that patch ended in either a loss or tie. I also finished with 4 higher CAA than the next closest in the rundle. At least my DE was the 2nd best, which helped me stave off relegation to D!

For posterity's sake, here are the cities listed. I ordered them roughly in a circular route around the country. I can't imagine they're actually going to visit all of these, as there is particularly a large glut in the midwest. Even Indianapolis which I can't recall being on the list anytime in th...

And what was Q4 about? Something that adds up to the Union Jack is what I surmised, but had no clue on what each piece was. The union jack has the crosses of st. George (england), st. Andrew (Scotland) and st. Patrick (Ireland). As usual, Wales is ignored. Ah, thanks! Essentially the same question ...

Re: LL83: Learned League

Somehow ended up with the highest score out of B and C Prairie on the MSC. Went for an unsure guess on Hudson River (don't know where I pulled that one from). Went for 'hot dog' on Q3 based on the 'not a sandwich' line. And what was Q4 about? Something that adds up to the Union Jack is what I surmis...

I threw down a bunch of answers really fast to avoid forfeiting, only half reading the questions. Picked a great day for my first ever 0(0).....my opponent forfeited, so I got a W0(0)0(0)F!

Re: LL83: Learned League

for the heavy water question: did anyone else specifically not put heavy because of the word heavier in the question. Even with the bad music/film question, this took away my win and gave me a tie :( Yup. I knew it was heavy, but then kept thinking it couldn't be since heavier was in the question. ...
