Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
I'm still hoping for Mo Rocca to get a shot. I think he'd do a great job, and already does the Geography Bee, right? Which means he has experience following in Alex's footprints (albeit a few years after Alex stopped hosting it).

Maybe more for LL, but Helen Viola Jackson, the last known widow of a Civil War soldier, has passed away at the age of 101. He offered to marry her when he was 93 and she was 17 so she could receive his pension, she accepted, and then never took the pension after he died....and also kept the marriag...

I knew Beijing was 'northern capital' and Nanjing was 'southern capital', so must be central (?), says I, but wait, in relation to other tribes; well, they're on the inside of a nice long wall: answer, behind the wall. Geez. Tokyo is dongjing (Eastern capital), and Xi'An's former name was Xijing (W...

I LOVED Q4 yesterday. At first glance I was thinking "How the stink am I supposed to know Malaysia's gas company's name? Why is that even on here?" And then it clicked. Questions like that are why I love LL.

The Miami Marlins have hired Kim Ng to be their General Manager. She is believed to be the first woman GM for any team in the "Big 4" of North American sports (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL).

No offense to all the boardies involved, but I didn't sign up for the 60s music. It would not have been an enjoyable experience for me, though my opponents may have enjoyed easy wins every day. But looking at the questions every day, they look well-written. Great job! I am having tons of fun puzzlin...

Rafael Nadal wins the French Open against Novak Djokovic. It was his 13th French title. With the win, he ties Roger Federer for the most Men's Grand Slam titles in history at 20.
He's now an astounding 100-2 at the French Open.

Donald Trump has tested positive for COVID-19. Is there an ongoing list of world leaders who have or have had COVID? Besides #45, I can only think of Boris Johnson and the one from Iran. Bolsonaro from Brazil and Prince Albert of Monaco come to mind. NPR had a list. The Honduran & Guatemalan presid...

One of the oddities this MLB season: The San Diego Padres (making up for a game postponed earlier this season in San Diego and made up as part of the series this weekend in San Francisco) hit a walk-off homer in the second game of the 7-inning double header. It was bad enough for the Giants to see ...

Got Estonia, mostly thanks to the World Geography game app I'm addicted to. I knew the population was less than 2 million, which matched up the percentages, and knew Moldova was larger than that. Didn't really think of other options as plausible.

Finally broke a 6 game non-winning streak (4 losses, 2 ties). Thought of Yankee Doodle, but didn't sing the song at all, so I didn't get to macaroni....I put 'Pastafarian.'

Does anybody know if these auditions are only going out from the anytime test, or also from the official test they had a few months back? I haven't done the anytime test yet.

I knew the letters were all there for EBITDA, but had no idea what order they'd go in. So I put down PEMDAS as a joke.
1 right yesterday...brain just wasn't getting into gear like it should have been. I haven't looked at questions yet today, but hoping I'm not about to hit another mid-season slump.

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020
My DE for my career is .704. This season, it's a whopping .500. I've had 5 straight games where I've given a 0 to a question my opponent missed. Ouch! Somehow, though, it's only affected wins and losses in 2 of the matches--I'm 3-1-1 over those games. Either my defense needs to get better quickly or...

Re: Poll on Boardies Covid-19 Impact
Time to update two of my responses. Just found out a great aunt passed away from Covid-19. Her husband was in the hospital with it, but is now home (and supposedly really confused--my mom said nobody knows if he even realizes what happened to his wife yet). I've seen them maybe twice in the past 15 ...

Would this be an appropriate place to ask for a referral? I've been playing along (albeit a day behind) for the better part of 5 years now, but my travel/work schedule has always kept me from asking for fear of a forfeit. Now that I'm not doing any international travel for the foreseeable future, I...

Just looked at my ML Olympic Games group 71...quite the murderers row with 6 or 7 people over .725 sports scores... Yikes, going to be tough to advance I'm in group 86 with a certain BarcombF. If you're around here, good luck in a few days! My Book Club group was brutal. I had 5 A and 3 B rundlers ...

I always wear one, but being in a small town in the south, I've only seen at most 20% of people wearing them any time I go to the store. A month ago I'd say the number was <5%.
I don't think I've had it, but we suspect my wife did. I don't know anyone who has passed from it.

Here are the top 5 BWAs. The winner would've been much better, in my eyes, had it been only a single word (since that's what the question asked for). Thought the one that got 2nd was really creative, and was my favorite out of the top 5.
