Re: Thursday, September 13, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Not only that, but you'd have to know that the screening was apparently off-campus in nearby South Bend (Notre Dame is an unincorporated town, and has its own zip code). It didn't have its own ZIP code in 1940! I figured that there wouldn't have been a movie theater in the town of Notre Dame, so So...

Re: LearnedLeague 78 - Official Thread

I was born in Gainesville and grew up in Tampa. I've been to both the "old" and "new" state capitol buildings (which are right next to each other in the center of the capital city). So for an embarrassingly long amount of time, the only Florida cities with long Native American names I could think of...

Question: How is Clay Jacobsen's directing of the program different from McCarthy before him, if I may ask?
I didn't really see any differences. I think, going into their 35th season, they've pretty much got the format down.

Re: Tuesday, September 11, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

If anyone's curious, here's a Becky Warren song (from her forthcoming album Undesirable). I know she was introduced as a rock musician, but her style seems more "alt-country" to me.

Any viewers in Detroit, NY or LA want to forward their programming guide to see what is happening in those markets on the 10th? Just curious.
In L.A., J! will air at 2:07 A.M. (early Tuesday), as has been KABC's usual modus operandi recently.

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

Seen plenty of stories similar to this before, it is odd how they will be so accommodating to people who are one of the ~3,000 chosen for an audition but unwilling to be flexible for the ~400 that have been chosen to be on the show. The show tapings are Serious Business in a manner that the auditio...

Re: Reretaken Down

I watched "Brady Bunch" reruns fairly religiously in the early '80s (when it was on in the after-school hours, back-to-back with "Gilligan's Island"), but probably haven't seen a full episode in 35 years. I do remember that my local station was using prints -- they were probably running it off film,...

Re: Reretaken Down

I was gone for a while, so I never got a chance to comment on the 25-4 game ... I was in the stands at Nationals Park in 2015 to see them beat the Braves 15-1, which was their biggest win since the franchise had moved to Washington -- that was the night before I was there with you to see what turne...

One's been in the works, apparently for GSN. I tried out for it last November. I don't know what happened to it.

Why does the horror genre exist? Who wants to voluntarily feel a negative emotion (fear)?
Why does sad music exist? Why does spicy food exist? Why does the TPH education thread exist?

Indeed it is -- Fry's mother bet on Wisconsin, if I recall correctly.

Another proud get that day was Gonzo, as I could not remember specifically who hit that gong...
But you're the one with a Muppet avatar! (If I recall correctly, it's only a gong in the first season of "The Muppet Show" -- in subsequent seasons, Gonzo attempted to play a trumpet.)

Re: LearnedLeague 77 - Official Thread

I owe an apology to my opponents yesterday: I tied patkav 6(3)-6(5) and beat trainman 6(3)-3(3). I missed both the science (bacteria) and math (witch of Agnesi) question which, quite reasonably, they assigned 0 and 1. It feels like fraud to make you assign 2 or 3 points to the stuff I actually knew...
