Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

May 14 and May 23 are pretty far apart. That seems longer than they ever spend in a single city. Do we know which of these dates is more likely to be correct? (In the extremely unlikely event that I got a replacement call, May 23 would be a much better date for me, although of course I would move He...

I thought it said that it was a word where the second letter was x.
Oh, that makes sense. (I removed the spoiler tag since it seemed that was generally not the practice - I can restore it if anyone wants me to.)

What was the category name for extremity? I thought it implied the word was supposed to have two xs. I could not come up with it either way.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), April 9, 2019

It just said "you have completed the test" when I was done. When will I know if my test taking meant anything? They only inform you if you have been selected for an audition. Officially you never know you did not pass or if you passed but were randomly non-selected (although usually you can infer w...

Re: Monday, April 8, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I have a feeling things are going to get interesting around here over the next few days/weeks, and not really in a good way. I think this weird, old thread is about to become relevant again: https://jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5006 Jeez, did you even bother to read to the end of the thread you ci...

I knew he was a Munchkin, but would "Wizard of Oz cast" been incorrect? joan kenmore is still alive...technically munchins should not have even been accepted...she played a munchkin in the film when she was 6...she wasn't a "little person", but played a munchkin....technically...they should have on...

I understand the points made by Jennifer Morrow, but I still do not believe that James could be stupid enough to jeopardize (no pun intended) his future TofC participation and even his winnings from this run (if there is a run - I have decided not to actually check out the site) by creation of a spo...

Re: Sony Reportedly Searching For Alex's Replacement

I have seen many threads on this subject over the years, and I don't think I have ever seen anyone suggest a promotion for one of the Clue Crew. All three obviously know how to read clues competently. And all current members happen to be women and/or minorities, if that is a consideration. I guess i...

What a brilliantly, beautifully constructed FJ! clue. The clue: FINAL JEOPARDY! CLUE In a 1947 collection he solved 12 mysteries, including “The Cretan Bull” & “The Girdle of Hyppolita” I'm not a big fan of the clue, mainly the word "collection". Was it a compilation of previous years of work? Did ...

Re: This Is an Extreme Longshot But Worth a Try

This needs to be picked up by something like The View and go viral. That's the only chance it has, laudable though the effort is. Yes, it was one of those ideas that comes to a person in the middle of the night and then seems implausible in the morning. Hence my "Don't get your hopes up" tone from ...

This Is an Extreme Longshot But Worth a Try

The only time I can remember a viral petition of this type actually being a success is the petition to get Betty White to host Saturday Night Live - and that involved a private corporation, not the federal government. But stranger things have happened. Yes, you have to register, and yes, the rest of...

I obviously don't know any of the teams' internal strategies, but I think that Team Ken pulled off a second-level move with their lineup to thwart Team Austin's strategy. I have a feeling that Team Austin was counting on Team Ken using their ideal lineup in the second game, and had so they had chos...

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

I have to admit I never heard of Hausa. I have heard of Igbo, of Wolof, of Fulani (and of course Swahili, but that is East Africa), but Hausa does not ring a bell. Unless it is a variant spelling of Xhosa, I haven't, either. I work with someone who speaks Hausa, so it's not new to me. This page sug...

I did not know Humane Society, rotorcraft, and Desert Inn but would not have rung in on any of them. (For Desert Inn I did not even have a guess.) For neonatal I dumbly said (and would have rung in with) prenatal. That gives me $10,000 at the end of DJ. With Doug so close behind me, I think I have t...

I have to admit I never heard of Hausa. I have heard of Igbo, of Wolof, of Fulani (and of course Swahili, but that is East Africa), but Hausa does not ring a bell. But here is a way it can be figured out (albeit it requires very quick thinking). We can quickly rule out Europe, North America, and pro...

Re: Monday, February 18, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Taking an international flight in 2001, in terms of both anxiety and hassle, would have been much more enjoyable pre-9/11 than post-. Not to mention the retroactive fear of "What if the terrorists had chosen my flight?" (Although all the actual 9/11 flights were domestic flights.) It is not a fully...

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

I guess I will stick up for TPH and say that my experience is also that ESP/ESPN wordplay was not invented by Tina Fey. The movie had a good plot and plenty of other funny jokes, so it is OK if one line drew on a pre-existing trope to establish a character.

Re: Request for information regarding an upcoming episode (POTENTIAL SPOILERS)

I’ll believe this one when I see it The episode in question has already happened. If it was Final Jeopardy rather than a Daily Double, that would be easier to alter - the contestant never says the number out loud and the exact score becomes irrelevant within seconds. I would consider that more beli...

Re: Request for information regarding an upcoming episode (POTENTIAL SPOILERS)

This story is strange. The comment above mine is correct - anyone who dared to bet $1488 would be immediately unmasking himself (or herself) to the whole world as a white power adherent (if the bet aired as originally done, which I assume he would hope to get away with). It would be not just a wicke...

Re: Wednesday, January 2, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

According to Wikipedia, it was a "featurette" - just 26 minutes I believe that there were a few short movies, created over the period of about a decade, that were eventually edited together into a full-length movie (which was called The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh to indicate its episodic na...
