Re: Fun with GSN's "Best Ever Trivia Show" [Spoilers]

Leslie Shannon (at least it sure looked, acted and sounded like her) won $1,000 and faced Ryan to try to up her total to $10K. Leslie being on the show makes me wonder if there's any S&P rule regarding knowing the panelists. I know on shows like Pyramid, contestants who were friends with that week'...

Re: Holzhauer betting for 2nd in the TOC to make more money?

Hasn't the first place prize always been just a minimum in all the tournaments, same as second and third? Did they change that this year?

Re: Trivia about Trivia: Obscure Record Holders

I would go further and say that there was a good chance that no one would have heard of Dan Melia at all. His first win came with him trailing Patrick Friel, no slouch himself, and requiring a sole get in FJ. Then his next two games were against Atish and he barely eked out the win after a tie the ...

Question: Is this the first Teen Tournament to feature a Grade 8 student? I thought it had been high schoolers only prior.

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

And it seems the player only has 'higher' and 'lower' options. A tie makes it wrong either way. That feels like a rule violation. If you, the player, are given two options, only those options should be possible. It'd be like WWTBAM suddenly giving you four wrong answers and expecting you to pick "E...

Re: Season 36 Changes & Predictions

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to bet more than the maximum allowed bet. I'm sure they'd edit it out, but I wonder if anyone has ever tried, whether accidentally or joking. Alex: "You trail James by a considerable margin." Contestant: "I'll wager $56,000. I'm good for it, I swear." I always said...

Eugene was hard to watch. It does seem unfair to bring back players who previously blew it.
I disagree.
So do I.

why was the pronunciation of dr. dree accepted for dr. dre?
Because it could reasonably be pronounced that way.
but it is not...i have seen other mispronunciations penalized
Phonetic mispronunciations are acceptable. If you pronounce it how it's spelled, you're good.

Re: $75,000 rule

Makes more sense that Frank would just report the $75,000 that he received. That way, Jeopardy gets to say that they made the charitable contribution, and they get the write-off.

Re: Rule Change Effective 4/29/19 - No More FJ! Shout-Outs

I feel like a previous Jeopardy champ mentioned on twitter that shout-outs have been discouraged for quite some time, just never enforced. Can any recent contestants confirm or deny?

Incidentally, James' average is $79,566 if you consider Day 6 (his only sub-$30,000 game) and outlier and don't count it.

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

Technically, mine is Saturday since it airs at 1:00 AM in the Washington market. Not anymore. It moved to 2pm around January, I believe. What makes you say that? According to their schedule, General Hospital is on then, and WWTBAM is still on at 1:00 and 1:30 AM. The fact that I watch it at 2pm. ;)...

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

When you were there did the producer have to appear in this regard? Do you know if any contestant dithered on a question for longer than 3 minutes? The producer did not come out during my game, and I was only in the studio for my game. I did sit in the audience for a taping this season, and no prod...

When James commented that he's running out of dates to wager, Alex quipped that he could use his birthday. That wager would be a cool $72,240.

So, to establish some sort of time limit, approximately how long had this contestant been stalling on the question when the producer said this?
I'll jump in for this one. During the briefing with the show's lawyer, we were told the producer would appear after "about three minutes."

Buzzy made a fun observation on Twitter which I didn't notice until now. This wildcard match was a rematch between Buzzy, Alan, and Austin. Even more interesting, that trio is 0/12 in Final Jeopardy.

Re: Friday, March 1, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

What an incredible tournament this has been, start to finish. Yesterday and today, we're seeing something we don't see very often on Jeopardy: gut-wrenching emotion. Between Alan yesterday and Alex today, you can really see just how much the team dynamic makes a difference. I'm sure Team Colby would...
